Yeah but if there was a large conspiracy of powerful pedophiles wouldn't their goal also be to legitimize pedophilia in society at large? It just seems weird to me how these supposedly hugely influential people are running pedophile rings yet at the same time pedophilia is less accepted now than in, say, the eighties. Why wouldn't they turn their attention towards influencing public opinion to be more accepting of pedophilia instead?

Assuming there is a global cabal of powerful pedophiles I'm sure they wouldn't be so stupid to proclaim their pro-pedophilia stance outright. If the conspiracy theorists are right these networks would have been active since the 90s so they would have had plenty of time to slowly but surely sway public opinion, the same way other movements do.
