How do you know that he is a f2p who can't do well? maybe he is really good at the game with only a minimal amount of hours.
I started competitive with maybe 150 or 200 hours in tf2 and it worked out fine for me

um? newbie mixes are just that - NEWBIE mixes. it doesn't matter how long they've been playing, they're welcome to learn the ropes of competitive tf2. you don't turn someone away from newbie mixes just because they're, you know, new.

bearodactylreillyPUBS. I can't spell. I meant to say just play pubs and get better at the game. I think if you're trying to get into competitive do newbie mixes but if you're totally new to the game you shouldn't do it, practice on mge or dm, or just normal pubs. My point is that you should practice on normal servers, its stupid to just have a bunch of f2ps who can't even do well on public servers trying to do newbie mixes.bearodactylIf you're that new to the game just do pugs and maybe lobbies. No point in clogging up the newbie mixes or pugs...What.
The whole point of newbie mixes or for completely new, or close to completely new people to come learn how to play. If you're any more than that, you should be playing pugs, not newbie mixes.
This is totally incorrect, the earlier you get into comp the faster you improve. Yes will this person be outdone in Newbie Mixes to start off but if he is dedicated and plays MGE and DM servers on the other days then he can only get better quicker then playing pubs. Playing pubs IMO is the worse thing you can do if you are interested in playing 6's. If he wants to play then let him.
