wall bugs aren't always easy to perform. a definition of out brain someone is to out smart someone, so if they are unaware you are still out smarting them.

and it is pretty easy to enforce, just submit demo and tick and AC team can see the player doing it quite clearly.

As of the 9th of February 2018, ETF2L have revoked the rule about using wall bugs! Now only the product wallbug is banned.

Yesterday ETF2L announced changes to bug abuse rules, including the ban of wall bugs.

One of the best and most enjoyable things about TF2 is it's movement and ability to abuse mechanics to give an advantage, such as surfing ramps to negate fall damage or maintain velocity. It's what makes this game special and different from others.

Seeing something unique and new in a game of TF2 gets people excited. I did a wall bug in a casted game at the ESU Rumble in Sweden and it created a lot of discussion, people coming up to me talking about it etc.

Wall bugs are a mechanic that falls into this category of skilful movement to give an advantage, pulling a successful wall bug and getting a nice play out of it is incredibly satisfying and really feels like you've out brained your enemies. Hiding spots are an essential part of TF2, every pocket has to know all the spots and check them, wall bugs adds more variety and fun to hiding spots.

tl;dr I like wall bugs and am salty they are now banned
