I wouldn't recommend the UberPirates. Unless you like to run into sentries or some heavy standing in the middle of a ramp. Also bad maps. I'm also looking for nice surf servers, but they are hard to come by.

I think the ladder setup could be nice to find scrims. In the early days of Clanbase, the ladder system worked pretty well for that purpose. Teams with similair skill can easily find each other and challenge each other in a semi-official match. It could fill a gap for teams that wanna try-hard and train for the main comp leagues. The rules for default and no-shows should be setup well though.
Keep a warm coat in your car and a shovel and adjust to the weather. Thats basically it.. common sense helps in all situations :)
I do however agree totally with Admirable's post earlier.. My wet dream would be a merge of TF.TV and ETF2L on one massive platform. That would definatly be something that would change TF2 in a big way. The best league system (matchmmaking, ruleset and community administration) combined with the best and largest TF2 media content in the world. All community driven.
djcperhaps europeans are a nicer, kinder people than americans, then. in the five years i have played this game, i can not think of a single person/team who was honorable and forthright in their scheduling desires. perhaps you were lucky to not encounter people who will refuse to play on any server where they have >50 ping, or people who will refuse to play at 10:30 for some reason but then scrim from 9:30 11:30 with their full starting lineup, or people who ping well to every server but know that your team is all east coast so they demand colorado only, etcetcetc. americans would abuse the fuck outta wildcards.
It's pretty simple. Both teams need to agree on the server. If not, they can ask for a default NA ETF2L server. If you are 15 minutes late and dont start the match, you get defaulted. If you cannot start your match, you can wildcard 15 minutes before the official match time. You can only use two wildcards. So when you use them up early in the season, you risk loosing matches later on if you are faced with an emergency situation. You can agree upon the match by contacting the other team and proposing a match time in your team section. If neither team schedules a match or can't reach to an agreement, and admin will schedule it for you, and you get a default matchtime.
As for the time-difference on the american continent, we face the same problems in Europe, same accounts for ping differences. Almost every exception you can think of is writen in stone.
Honestly, ETF2L has beent running for years now and has always been one of the biggest TF2 leagues in the world for 6vs6 and highlander. Sure you can argue about unlocks, which we do every season. Sure you can argue about the maps, win-rules, config, AC administration, etc. But the match system is just perfect in my eyes. I am simply proud of playing in this league, for it's being run by enthousiastic players that care about the community.
Admirable to choke on Ipz's german sausage!
Same here, just called because of the exact same problem with my Logitech G400. Did not have a recipe anymore either. But they just noted the P/N and PID number and I needed to send a photo of the mouse and they are gonna send a new one tomorrow. It's not a cord problem btw, it's a technical flaw in the chip or some connectivity problem. Mine is not loosing USB connection either, it just freeze up. Almost like it's sending faulty interupts, because sometimes other USB devices freeze up as well together with the mouse.
You just have to train fine motor control by extending the time you can drive with your eyes shut.. I've been training for weeks now and I can finally drive for 10 minutes with my eyes closed. It's amazing how wonderfully peaceful the feeling is, of not looking at traffic anymore. Traffic jams are still a bitch though.
Ugh... now I feel the need to modify my crosshair again.. thanks teamfortress.tv for wasting another evening..
I think one of the biggest problems with PL maps are the sniper sightlines perhaps. And I think respawn time waves would be an issue too. They arent setup for 6s. But I do like the idea. I think it would validate different strategies, used in normal cp maps.
I prefer DM, cus I find it very relaxing to do. Unless I run into alot of scripting pyro's, charging demo's, sodapopper scouts and minisentries..

This resupply cabinet was staring us down en blocking point :(
strongsuitSaid goodbye to someone I miss more than I thought I did, took a few hours' break from reality to shake off the resulting incoherence and then settled back into my "fuck having emotions that aren't mild bemusement" trance by playing TF2 (rang for 2 HL scrims and played #tf2mix).
*gives manhugg*
32hzi liked when an NA guy would cast with an EU guy because of the playful rivalry in the casting
I second that.. Also HRG really showing balls and doing their utter best in their games. I cringed at the audience commenting during the 2 rounds. I would like to see HRG given more respect for coming all the way over and doing what they do :)
These games on i49.. are the best I've seen in a long time, might be the best I've ever seen. Great casts, great matches, great actions. And it's still Friday goddamnit! :D
