Unsure, but whatever proof was provided was enough for RGL to ban their head admin for "improper interactions with a minor(s) in sexually suggestive ways". Not saying evidence wouldn't be nice, but I'm fairly convinced, unless RGL falsely banned.

The obvious question: Have you done anything to your computer recently around the time TF2 began crashing?

Try running without your custom folder and use default settings (there's some launch option that does this, maybe -autoconfig).

Do other Steam games work?

I voted no for mastercomfig+ because I'm poor and stingy not because of "datamining" in a graphics config.

Also I like how you say you won't read the text and then you say some stuff that has clearly been addressed in the posts above. From what I've read mastercomfig+ is basically a bonus incentive for donating, it's more than just paying exclusively for a service. If you really fear that this config will datamine you and nothing can change your mind, well, you can still donate and just don't use mastercomfig+.

A question though about customization. I'm looking through the config for commands I can uncomment, but many times I find myself unsure what the explanation means. For example:

Would this be better than being set to 1 for bad internet? Another example:

//cl_smooth 0 // Skip view smoothing operation

Is view smoothing an extra feature or would disabling it make the game uglier but improve fps?

In these cases, apart from Googling to find often ambiguous results, what options do I have on deciding between options? Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, comparing recommend options between low and high presets shows which commands are better for squeezing fps. Still doesn't always say whether or not they may provide a gameplay disadvantage, though.

I know this is from page 27, but I still feel like -nosrgb deserves better documentation.

In case you forgot (wouldn't blame you; again, page 27), for me the launch option made ALL player models and MOST weapons completely INVISIBLE, as well as adding a random vertical line on the screen for some reason. Technically it improves fps, but let's be honest, this is like using an option to make the entire map invisible because it makes your fps smoother.

Now I'm not completely sure why this happened to me and why nobody else has reported something that seems so game-breaking. Maybe the launch option + my Dx81 or No Hats Mod messes something up? Not too sure, so many possible factors. The "very bright lighting" part you added is an improvement for sure, but is still slightly ambiguous because very bright rarely translates to invisibility, and I only noticed bright models, not bright map props/lighting.

You forgot this other exploit, animation lock with ConTracker.

It can, you just need to press your key (default `) to bring it forward, as if it's a window behind another invisible window.
Same thing also happened to me for item drops (unable to press "Ok" to accept), but I could only press Esc to close the notification, no key bound for that.

Same issue here, screen freezes and stays frozen and have to force-shutdown, I have a very low-end PC.
I find that if instead of quitting TF2 the second I disconnect from a server, I wait several seconds, press the Quit button, wait another several seconds, THEN press "Yes" to confirm, then TF2 only freezes for a short time before successfully quitting. I have not extensively tested this but it's what I've gotten so far. Maybe quitting while TF2 is still initializing the main menu will do something bad?

Strange. I haven't gotten this bug before yet (I think I got it once so far since Jungle Inferno, but that's it, and I've played a lot of games so it's VERY rare for me).

Also there's the glitched Aussie ConTracker bug, some people have an impossibly large amount of points somehow.

R.I.P. I once force-shutdown my computer while TF2 was frozen (or my computer crashed? don't remember exactly) and when I came back my launch options were gone as well.

Likely related to suddenly crashing in-game. I've force-shutdown my computer manually many other times while TF2 was frozen but it didn't happen again. Best advice I know... keep backups, be careful.

Can't play without it, can't play with it. 10/10 command.
