I learned the hard way that sometimes you just can't be the strength your friends need. This might be hard to hear, but you might just need to let him work this out on his own. If he was going to hurt himself, you would be the last person to know. I've had more than a few of my friends kill themselves, and trust me when I say that I had no idea they were even depressed.

The honest truth is that you might need to take a step back and not let the problems of your friends affect you as much, because honestly that can be just as dangerous as not even caring at all. I looked this up, and at some point they will have to stop digging this hole. The reason why is because the hole will become wide and deep enough to classify it as an "Aggregate Production Operation" aka a Resource Quarry, which you need a permit for. The problem really isn't even getting the permit, it's the safety inspections and fees that come with getting it.

This is something that needs to be talked about at the white list meeting. That meeting needs to be about more than just a white list, and the direction of this community needs to be debated and paved clear for all to understand. This type of attitude, what has been said to tagg (as stated in his his post), is completely unacceptable and consequences should be handed down to those who have committed and encouraged this behavior.

Anything that adds transparency and democratic consensus is a step in the right direction. The further we distance ourselves from popular sovereignty, the more serious the community will be able to take itself; thus outsiders may begin to take us more seriously as well.

I agree, maybe I misspoke. I'm just saying that if you love playing a game, you don't quit for the rest of your life just because you are getting bored and want to move on to other things. There might come a time when you do have a reason to play again. Purpose is subjective.

Don't quit, just take a break. If you can honestly quit cold turkey, then maybe your heart wasn't in the right place to begin with. It's good to take breaks in order to be more productive.
