#8 FROYO, nR to i55 upper final in News
dollarlayerKanecoSearchlightfroyotech won close games against Reason to take the series 2-0 (3-0 Product, 3-2 Gullywash)close games???????

Still pretty stoked for this game, although Flippy probably sniping makes me worried about nR's flank being exposed.
I guess you didn't watch the game because product went to the last 10 seconds for both teams in all rounds and gullywash ended with a round deficit and was very close through the entire game

The gully was close, everything else wasn't. Process 5-0 (group stages), Viaduct (3-0). Looking forward to watching this match hope it starts close to on time...

The viaduct score doesn't do it justice, very close on the time each round, could have gone either way.

#15 i55 Day Two Summary in News
lanskyfroyo didn't get this strong without learning from their mistakes. plenty of teams have put up very strong performances against the team throughout their time, but no other team has been able to adapt and bounce back as strongly as they have. getting rolled by mix in the online zowie tournament back in s16, losing group stage matches at i52, and being knocked into lower bracket in the esea playoffs. every single time it's happened, they own up to their mistakes, decide what needs to be done, and make no excuses.

looking forward to seeing froyo surprise everyone with how quickly they can adapt and learn from their missteps today. and i'm amazed at how well b4nny has been playing on pocket -- he's absolutely on another level and everyone can learn a ton from watching him.

Can confirm, spent a while with froyotech last night and all the talk was centered on that game and how they were going to smash it today

#15 [R] to i55 lower final over Ascent in News
ElepimpI kind of feel like that was stolen from ascent. like the round timer ending causing another mid fight screwed them.

Thems the rules

edit: you can play the round timer just like the server timer. Reason played it cleverly and ascent fucked up by not letting reason cap second with 60 seconds on the round timer. Just because the round timer making an impact is rare doesn't mean it doesn't count.

#55 we need to talk in TF2 General Discussion

hide_server 1 isn't sufficient. Nor is every player being offline. STV relays are still fine (although we might still avoid them just in case) but any direct STV access is a no-go.

#27 we need to talk in TF2 General Discussion
Stochast1cAs much as we would like for it to be true, attempting to shame the attacker(s) to stop is about as effective as using water to put out a grease fire. This community needs to come to terms with the fact that this kind of thing is a very real occurrence, and the more popular your game gets (and as prices drop) the more often these attacks will happen.

As the community that leaves us with the burden of defending ourselves from these attacks. We can ask/require server providers to have ddos protection, but that is never going to protect you from a ddos, no matter what protection they claim they offer. The real defense comes down to the players protecting their own information. Forgive me if I am incorrect, but the only way a ddos is going to work is if the attacker knows the ip they wish to target (unless your are The International and the attacker(s) take down the entire isp). If that is indeed the case, we need to compile a list of ways would-be attackers can get your ip or the server ip so that we can shut down these means of attacks.

First we need to be more concerned about server attacks since they prevent games from being played entirely. From what I understand there are only two ways to get the server ip: They know what server you are going to be on (you put the connect info into console while streaming, you announced to the world what server you are going to play on) and you stay signed into steam (possibly need to be private to fully shut this means of attack down but I didn't check that), where they can just use the steamapi to get your server that you are playing on. If there is another method of obtaining server ip's please list them, especially if they are steam exploits that we need to get valve to fix.

When investigating this during GGG we found a way that you can find pretty much any server that someone on steam is playing on in under a minute.
