PlatypusThe important thing to note here is that when Star makes a video about a bug, it gets fixed in the next patch.
Except the invisible players bug, he had one of those
blinKStill dodging the compensation though! How about this. If there are server issues going on, why not put in a rule that allows us to run our own servers using the ESEA configs of course as long as both teams agree. Then we can just forward the scores to admins to input manually into the website. This would save your admins from being bombarded on bad nights and allow us to get our games done without having to wait hours upon hours to get a 10 minute match done with.
"why not let us pay to not use your service"
It's like he doesn't know that he's dumb.
goatcs hasnt been worth playing since like 04 its all the same boring shit now how are so many people joining that game it doesnt make sense
because they're terrible at Dota and league is, somehow, beneath them
gardenWhy did Friday Night Fights fail? I found it very entertaining
If this was in europe, I'd love it (that said, we have our one night cups, but those aren't as frequent). As it is, sounds like a good idea!
No incentive, believe it or not folks don't like playing against invite pug teams when there's nothing to gain from it.
alfunksooh man, I thought you were going to step up your post at the end with: "so I decided to start running weekly tf2 tournaments"
I really, really don't have those kinds of resources
joejoe347What exactly is a hud with tf2center built in?
It'd probably just open up tf2center in the steam browser.
Like, link to it in some way
COMPETITIVE TF2 IS MINISCULE IN COMPARISON TO THE POPULATION THAT ACTUALLY PLAYS/TRADES IN TF2.
So . . . what's the dilly there?
Clearly people own and play the game.
Is it just a lack of awareness? Probably.
So, how do we fix that?
Sezco mentioned a HUD with tf2center built into it, and maybe a cfg file installed with it to help with frame rates (honestly, i know plenty of folks that use FPS configs but have no interest in playing competitive, but who knows) and perhaps a weekly tourney thing.
THE LATTER SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA.
I understand the implications of tournament running, and just how much effort goes into getting them up and running. I also understand that nothing is free, especially the infrastructure that goes into large (even small) tournaments. But, small cash prizes* seem to get people interested in competitive tf2. Perhaps a monthly pay-to-play tournament, open to any players could attract more to comp. You could have 3 open and free tournaments (weekly, probably weekend days) to qualify to play (for free) in the pay-to-play tournament, and see if teams would be interested in competing.
Perhaps a small advertising sponsor (think zowie, but less ungodly, more like esea's BenQ advertisements) to help host servers and maybe add incentive could be contracted. Maybe some benevolent person could chip in to it.
just spitballin here folks.
*hats, keys etc also seem to attract people
Paragondoes anyone know where i can find a ping pong table within driving range? grape and i have some beef to settle
There's evidently a family fun center near it.
If they don't have a ping pong table, they don't know family fun.
Just ask her.
I did all that impractical dumb shit, and ended up going stag.
I did evidently do some interpretive dance. Which is kind of like having a date
ReykiblinKHow about you stop crying about the rules and just use some common sense and show some sportsmanship. Last season in esea open finals we didn't have to wait 2 hours for seanbud to fix his client. We did anyway because it was the fair thing to do, then we still had to reschedule. We also lost the reschedule. But that's what you have to do in the finals. Nobody wants to win or lose on a technicality like that, especially in a championship game, it's just stupid and not what we play for. We play for the fun in competition.
But there are rules for a reason, and i don´t think the "let´s throw those rules out the window and use common sense instead" approach is the right one. If both parties accept to not follow these rules for one reason or another ( so if MF9k would´ve allowed GC to have more timne) then that´s alright but to "cry about" MF9Ks decision to follow the rules instead is stupid. Why have rules to begin with if you don´t want anyone to follow them?
Aww, look at you, you probably play Lawful Good characters in D&D.

I'll practice whatever is needed.
