#7 The Division in Off Topic
KaeyelI wonder how dynamic the comms will be for the rest of the game.

As much as your friends want? The comms were by real people not AI.

This is comparable to Destiny which is great since it's nice to have this kind of experience in both a fantasy and realistic world.

#14 teamfortress.tv app in TF2 General Discussion
crespiEyse
An "announcer app" would be ideal, great idea. Just so you can get the upcoming events on your lockscreen etc. Maybe this is even a possible feature for a mobile website... I am not sure though.

If you have an android with 4/4.1+, you can create a widget on your homescreen that is linked to any webpage :)

A link doesn't give any actual up-to-date information.

It doesn't matter. TF2 has raw mouse input.

#9 xl2420t or the vg248qe in Hardware
MaRKyBoXOdissiusVG248QE = 1ms response time (newer)
XL2420T = 2ms response time (older)

That should make the decision easy for you.

(50 frames per second creates 25ms framebuffer input lag, while 60 frames per second creates 16ms framebuffer input lag).

Yeah the frame-frame delay is half that at 120hz. A lot of people still use 16.67ms to determine that "X" 120Hz monitor has like 10ms input lag and thus has less than 1 frame of input lag even though it's really 8.33ms per frame @ 120hz and even less @ 144hz.

Decreasing max pre-rendered frames in your drivers is supposed to reduce GPU based input lag but I don't think nVidia offers that option in their drivers anymore.

tornados2111Hmmmm... If I run at 200 fps does that mean that the input lag is much reduced? and what if I then run at 500 fps? Or does it simply not work that far?

The input lag is still reduced but you can't actually see any more reduction when you go over your monitor's refresh rate.

#4 benq xl2420t for $270 in Hardware
wrechedddddjust saying this is for people like in this thread:

http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/9200-xl2420t-or-the-vg248qe

that still debate the benq vs asus even though of the 80 dollar difference. i would go for the asus at the 80 dollar difference but this makes it harder. i actually don't have money for either right now, so im stuck with the 120hz crt.

There's literally nothing to debate unless you value 24 extra hertz. Both of them offer the same resolution, ergonomics, and performance. There's no reason to buy the BenQ when you can get the Asus brand new for cheaper.

#4 Opinions on Lightboost mod in Hardware

I was also trying out the CM Storm Spawn with the monitor and it not being right for me probably hindered my experience with lightboost as well.

#1 Opinions on Lightboost mod in Hardware

I just recently bought an Asus VG248QE after my Viewsonic stopped working correctly and the first thing I tried was getting lightboost running. I was expecting a lot since plenty of people hyped it up even more so than 120hz but so far it doesn't seem that great.

In my opinion the step up from 60Hz to 120Hz is orders of magnitude greater than 120Hz to lightboost. The difference is definitely noticeable but it isn't as much as 120hz. Stepping up to 120hz literally made my eyes feel weird for the first day or two.

I've used a CRT for a week @ 120Hz and that was a clear experience but I can't really remember well enough to compare to lightboost on an LCD.

One of the bigger downsides to Lightboost is that I can't adjust my color settings in game which leaves a very noticeable purple/blue hue on everything.

Anyone else who has used/uses Lightboost have any thoughts?

It looks very good actually. I'd probably use it. The class icon on the bottom left is really unnecessary though.

#58 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
the301stspartanBriskSalamancerhighlander is the only way Valve will ever support competitive TF2. Let's make it happen.
Welp I think im done with comp then.

You know, "ever" on the internet extends no further than a year max.

Obviously never heard of Valve-time.

And how can 6s possibly not change enough? He obviously missed the rise of Mihaly's flow.
