GentlemanJonEmilioEstevezNot at the expense of their own industries they aren't. Also what kind of message would it send, the only reason to stay in the EU is we will punish you if you dare to leave? It proves the leave campaigns point about the EU being an anti-democratic bully. It won't be spiteful, it won't cost their industries, it sends the message that there will be continue to be benefits to membership, it doesn't prove any such points.

How will it not cost their industries.

"About a fifth of all cars produced in Germany last year, or around 820,000 vehicles, were exported to the UK, making it the single biggest destination by volume."

If you start getting into a trade war and imposing tariffs, how will that not affect sales of European products in the UK.

wrukinda bumping my question: in your opinion, what country to leave next? btw is there any way to rejoin the eu?

Greece has been crippled by being forced to join the Eurozone, they have a currency that is valued in a way that benefits Germany/France and it's put their economy in the toilet. They were given huge loans during the boom years and have now been forced into poverty due to repayments during the downturn, and they don't even have control over their own currency to try and improve competitiveness.

The NL also just had a poll where 54% of the population indicated they would be for holding a similar referendum. Marine Le Pen wants the same in France too. There are plenty of people around Europe who don't enjoy being ruled by unelected foreign bureaucrats.

Also yeah, the UK could potentially rejoin the EU in future. It certainly wouldn't happen in the near future though, but it's a possibility if we were to re-apply 20-30 years in the future. There are no laws to stop it.

GentlemanJonThey're going to make an example of the UK to try to discourage similar things happening in other member states. I doubt attracting new members is much on their minds right now, survival of the bloc is.

Not at the expense of their own industries they aren't. Also what kind of message would it send, the only reason to stay in the EU is we will punish you if you dare to leave? It proves the leave campaigns point about the EU being an anti-democratic bully.

trashEmilioEstevezYou can't put a price on democracy anyway.this should not be the major argument you have in favor of so utterly tanking the core economics of your own country--especially when you splitting off essentially dropped all of your bartering ability that the EU had

What, the idea of democracy and the right to self-determination is not worth a potential few % of growth? I guess Brits just value their freedom more than Canadians.

trashEmilioEstevezAs for trade, we will be fine.I like how you're saying this after the country had already lost literally a thousand times over what it was touting as saving--and keep in mind, this decision isn't 100% final just yet, so should it go through parliament expect another spike

Well that was always going to happen initially after the referendum, nobody knows for sure what kind of trade deal we will get with the EU so investors will be cautious. That doesn't mean we won't get a favourable deal in the end.
You can't put a price on democracy anyway. Self-determination is more important than a potential extra 1% growth each year imo.

Not everyone is a racist just because they dislike the EU. A lot of people disliked the idea that laws could be made in the UK by European politicians who are in no way accountable to UK citizens; it's not like you can vote out a German MEP if you don't like the laws they are forcing upon you. We also pay in membership fees double what we get back in grants.

As for trade, we will be fine. France and Germany etc aren't going to spite their own industries just to punish the UK for holding a democratic referendum. What kind of message would that send, the EU will try to bankrupt you if the citizens of your country decide they don't want to be a part of it any more. Who would want to be a part of that club?

They also need us to buy their products, it'll hurt their own economies to impose restrictive tariffs.

2.63million cars sold in the UK last year, over 80% of them from EU companies. Good luck to Merkel telling VW they can't trade with the UK any more.

enigmathe majority of highlander players wouldn't even classified as competitive players in any other scene except tf2's, where glorified pubbing is hailed as something more than what it is.

But neither would 6s players. The entirety of comp TF2 is considered a joke in other scenes, and it's not because HL exists, it's because you are playing a cartoon free to play hat trading game.

enigmahaving two widely accepted competitive formats is absurd and a direct impediment to the development of any serious competition.

The most popular competitive sport in the world (football / soccer) has multiple formats. 5-a-side / 11-a-side / 3v3 / etc.

PinKushinTo support a company you grew up with.

Games company's typically don't make profit on hardware. They sell the hardware at a loss and then make it up in software sales later on (which wouldn't happen here as nobody is making more Dreamcast games and SEGA makes nothing off of the second hand market).

If you lower the fence behind the rock then it'll be harder to snipe the heavy and wont really hurt the sniper either as he only looks in one direction at a time anyway. If anything you might just buff it as a sniper spot as counter sniping will be harder (since he won't be visible from as many angles). I don't think it needs a nerf in the first place, it's good as is.

#59 Swatting- who to blame? in Off Topic
smoboThey could totally do their jobs without being rude to this guy, you're totally right. But how much attention are they paying to being respectful when one tactical mistake could get them or their close friends killed?

I get your point but they sign up for this job, nobody forces them to be there. They are public servants after all and I just think they should strive to act a little more professionally.

It's a minor issue in the grand scheme of things but I don't think they portrayed themselves in the best light here.

If you're unable to handle acting in a professional manner in high-pressure situations then maybe SWAT team's not the job for you.

I know it's not the biggest deal ever (I'm sure he'll get over the officer being mean to him) but there are standards of behaviour that are expected of you and that you agree to by becoming a police officer and "it's hard" is kind of a poor excuse for not meeting them.

Alan Wake is p cool if you are a fan of Stephen King/John Carpenter stuff although I wouldn't describe it as scary.

#20 Presenting yourself in TF2 General Discussion

Play mixes/pugs/lobbies (depending on your level) and join merc groups and just put yourself about and get noticed. You are unlikely to get very far if you just message people out of the blue with a logs.tf link, you need to network and get a good reputation in order for people to give you a chance.

If you keen it up and have a good attitude the rest will come eventually.

dingoyeah threatening me with the minnesota legal system (rofl) is being a carebear
ill gladly take on the army of tftv aspies that are righting the wrongs of society with their forum posts

Nobody is "righting the wrongs of society" whatever that means. You are being called out on your cuntish behaviour, people suffering from depression sometimes will try to commit suicide if they're encouraged to do so and I'm not sure why you think that's an OK thing for you to say to somebody who may be vulnerable?

It's not just Minnesota either, most states have some law against encouraging people to commit suicide:
http://www.patientsrightscouncil.org/site/assisted-suicide-state-laws/

Rather than just say carebear repeatedly maybe you could try explaining why you think its acceptable to act that way and why you want to be the kind of person who does this shit?

dingoi am student

I hope this means middle school and you're still in your edgy teen phase.

Also if he tries to kill himself you may be liable under laws for assisted suicide, manslaughter, negligent homicide, etc depending on yours or his state even if he doesn't go through with it.

For example if you live in Minnesota:
