StingerPAI've run several games like A Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Escape Goat 2, and Star Wars: Battlefront II since I stopped playing TF2. It's a pretty amazing hobby, and the community is awesome. I'd encourage anyone who's even moderately interested to give it a try, and see what they can do.
A general piece of advice for picking games is to think of a game you could see yourself pouring a thousand hours into, or completing a hundred times or more. This is pretty key because it's very easy to get frustrated with mistakes or randomness after a while, and it helps a lot to love what you're playing.
yeah i don't understand people that bandwagon on popular games (that they don't even enjoy) rather than just playing games that they like
i've seen a lot of instances where people will ragequit their game because of not getting a pb in weeks/months, but stuff like that happens
the main enemy in speedrunning is pretty much always yourself
can't wait to drop $1 billion on another nexon game
i was thinking about picking up sly cooper 1 (ps2)
i talked about it a lot with the guy who ran it at sgdq and he was really friendly and helpful about it
the new flavor of the month in speedgames is shovel knight, and i'm pretty sure there's going to be an all-out war to who gets to run it at the next *gdq
i run gimmick games that bots randomly assign in irc, lol
iirc there's a bunch of source game runners on tf.tv
this guy is amazing
i wanted to post on his looking thread while i was away from home, but forgot my steam password lol
by the time i got back i figured someone would already have given him a new home!
i can tell you that my scout dm has significantly dropped from when i stopped playing dm/mge for at least two hours a day
dm is nice, but i'd think you'd build up your aim in mge since it's in a 1v1 situation
i've realized in dm i always end up cleaning up kills from other fights, which really doesn't help my overall aim in the end point
you shouldn't completely rely on mge as a guideline to how good your dm is, but it will force you to aim since it is a 1v1 scenario
even if you get 20-0'd in mge, as long as you slowly get better by learning from each experience, your dm will eventually improve
it just takes time and effort

a lot of cheaters in cs:go usually scammed/stole the accounts they are using, which is why a lot of cheaters have those really expensive knives/skins and stuff in higher divisions
ExquisiteStoneIf I'm really honest you people are blind for The Real Threat that will take over Competitive.
that is amazing
i used the new sniper rifle all night yesterday
it really needs something to be viable, otherwise you're just gimping yourself as a passive sniper
it either needs minicrits on unscoped headshots (80 damage ping with no charge when fired from hip would be really cool) or faster charge time (expect more bodyshots tho) or being able to charge while moving at normal speed
any of those three would make it viable imo
it's really fun in pubs, but it's probably the weakest out of ALL of the other sniper primaries due to the fact if you don't have a charge, you're probably dead at anything closer than midrange
i could see it working in highlander as a REALLY REALLY passive sniper, but what's the point when all the other rifles are outright better lol
as far as i can see, the only two benefits of the new sniper rifle is that it sounds cool and you can't tell when the sniper is charged or not
the intended benefit of shooting from the hip just makes it bad because of the -10% damage on bodyshots (and since you're firing from the hip, that just makes it more likely to happen); the charge takes too long, and there's a delay when you try to fire it off as a noncharged; another horrible thing is that after firing, you can't change weapons because of the firing animation, so you're pretty much dead if your shot doesn't kill anyone running/flying in at you
technosexibexif you are on fire with the base jumper out you stay floating forever until you arent on fire anymore
