#27 moral machine test in Off Topic

http://moralmachine.mit.edu/results/1991433661

Was surprised I wasn't farther on the right on the Upholding the Law part.

I'm also all the way to the right or left on four of the nine spectrums: saving more folks, hoomans over pets, fit people over unfit, and higher social status...I tended to get the passengers killed, so I should go back and look at the distribution of fit/fat and well-to-do/not-well-to-do in the vehicle and on the street.

Edit: Criminals being among those lower on the social scale probably contributed.

#5 Unlock survey results in TF2 General Discussion

No Escape Plan for the "shorter whitelist with only the best unlocks on it, no controversial unlocks?"

I went with that whitelist, on the assumption that you meant to allow the Escape Plan instead of the Equalizer.

#20 classic makaveli in Other Games

I confess myself a little confused here. The title is "classic makaveli," but the article is about some fella named Dellor. Is this related to the Makaveli of Quake/Quake II fame? What am I missing?

#14 ESEA Season 24 Invite playoffs set to start in News

Also, it should say that the team that wins the upper bracket finals only has to win one bo3, rather than "[t]he team that makes the grand finals will come in with an advantage. . . "

Looking forward to watching as many matches as the schedule allows.

#3 Internet Archive of Old Twitch VODS in Q/A Help

Looks like the only TF2 streams saved were from VanillaTV and Sal (saw Fatmop in there). Kritzkast, too.

I guess the only hope would be if people downloaded the VODs themselves at the time. Drat.

Thanks for taking the time, Merchant.

If anyone preserved any old stream VODs and wants to share them, PM me. I'd be thrilled.

#1 Internet Archive of Old Twitch VODS in Q/A Help

I started playing Team Fortress 2 in 2014 and didn't become aware of the comp scene until a year later. As such, there are a great many old twitch VODs which were taken down and many top players/personalities are now gone. I'm thinking of people like Platinum, Lange, Pyyyour, TLR, and so on. Pyyyour's channel still has some VODs up and there's youtube content out there, but I would love to see more.

I found the following thread on this site:
http://www.teamfortress.tv/19483/twitch-nuking-vods-we-need-help-saving-them

It seems many twitch pages were added to the Internet Archive. Yay! Fantastic! Capital!

So, I started searching for a stream to view there. Unfortunately, I cannot view the VODs. It says I need to install Adobe Flash. OK, I click on the link; it either takes me to a page saying the link cannot be followed or it takes me to a generic Adobe page to download the latest version of Flash. I do that and it doesn't work.

https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20120809044851/http://twitch.tv/pyyyour

I've tried to view these pages on my computer at home (Windows 7), my Macbook (10.6.8), and my work laptop (Windows Vista, after hours of course). I've tried Firefox and Chrome.

Does anyone have a workaround? Alternatively, did people download these old VODs? If so, where might they be found?

Thanks for your time.

#24 gunboats better than shotgun? in TF2 General Discussion
bearodactylfirst of all valve isnt going to fix anything any time soon unless a hoard of apes on reddit complain about it (even then who knows)
second of all your 'fix' makes even less sense if anything they just need to buff the mantreads so they resist all forms of knockback (afaik airblast is the only non damaging one but maybe there's others)

Right, that's why I used the word 'could.' I have no expectation that they will.

I'll concede that my idea is circuitous.

Anyways, I'll stop posting here. This thread is for shotgun and Gunboats.

PumAs they said, only airblast because it doesnt do Damage, FaN and Scorch Shot do Damage.

Zesty's post hadn't appeared when I hit 'submit.'

Seems like a relatively easy thing for Valve to fix; just make airblast do 1 damage or .0001 damage (assuming the engine allows that).

bearodactylrealtalk though why doesn't it resist airblast knockback that makes no sense

Taken out of context, you're saying it doesn't make sense that a pair of boots doesn't prevent you from being forced backwards/up?

I actually didn't realize the Manntreads don't resist airblast. Are there any other exceptions to them? Scorch Shot? FaN? I should go test this sometime...

Anyway, back on topic, the way your team plays matters when making this kind of decision. Sure, if you have awful/great shotgun aim, that affects the call on an individual level, but how the rest of the team plays should probably be the biggest factor.

#223 Games you played as a kid in Off Topic

We had an ancient computer given to us by the local school. We played games from a CD called "FunPackHD" or some such. It had ripoffs of classic computer games. I grew up thinking Breakout was called Block Breaker, that Tetris was called Emlith, and so on. Later, I installed Ultimate Risk and Ultimate Battleship, both very fun.

I also played the original Rayman and the first three Spyro games on PS for many years. I always thought Rayman was a great game, one which could challenge adults and not be impossible for kids. Apparently, that game is regarded as being stupidly hard, which I never understood. I actually beat the game without dying once.
