Honestly, it'd probably be better to assume the tourney dead than wait in hopes for the slim (if any) chance that it's actually gonna happen.
fatswimdudeKonceptLegacyPark a heavy on cliff with a brass beast and shove a medic up his butt and you might as well kiss your single man sacks goodbye
well if they do that it seems like you would just get free dominance over everything that isnt their cliff and they would have the worst healspread on earth and completely worthless ubers. you can basically just get picks on their unprotected classes and then spam the heavy out or cap.
But if you've got people constantly rotating in and out to watch what isn't cliff, isn't it essentially worthless? Or would your primary focus shift to knocking out the people that are on that non-cliff side? I'm asking for the knowledge more than anything here
still a little skeptical about the ctf maps, but thank goodness process is in
I think that instead of just looking at situations where x weapon would be overpowered in, I think we should rather look at the implementation of some weapons on certain maps. And the one big problem that I see is on viaduct. Park a heavy on cliff with a brass beast and shove a medic up his butt and you might as well kiss your single man sacks goodbye. Park a dispenser where he can also get ammo from it, and as much as I hate to say it, you've got something dumber than the loose cannon itself. I had the "privilege" to play against this stupidity last season in 6s, and needless to say, I wasn't the happiest gamer ever. And that's only the tip of the iceberg, folks.
Although I have very little experience moderating tournaments, I do happen to life a few hours away from Austin, and would be happy to pitch in on setting up things, commentary, etc. to help things run smoothly if we decide to do it. Plus I'd be actually able to attend a LAN, which is exciting enough in my opinion.
boulderwhy in gods name is the "RAGEQUIT" changed to "QUIT"? what is this?
You CAN change it back if you're that concerned about it ....
inb4 TSM gets into TF2 and sponsors TSU
but really I'm not sure how to feel about this. Definitely going to shake things up. I'm just not sure how
If anything, I think valve should put smissmas and matchmaking in the same update. Now that would be the best gift ever! Given that they can get everything finalized in time :/
All my thoughts on this situation are that it is in fact, very fishy. Many questions have been asked, and very few (if any at all) have been answered. Even with this new EXT tournament thing going on, I would advise anyone partaking in it to be very cautious as to what you in fact are doing. Hacking raises enough red flags around a person already, and now that we've found more stuff, we just need to be cautious and be safe as a community.
If you're wanting to make the name column wider, you need to go into your custom hud files, then into resource, then ui, then look for a file that's labeled scoreboard, and open it up. If you don't have notepad++, a common text editor, then open it up with regular notepad. from there, find name_width (it should be at the top of the file) and increase or decrease the value to your liking. You're probably going to want to have tf2 open. Whenever you save a change, go back into your game and type hud_reloadscheme into your console and you should see the changes

The problem with that is it's somewhere in a few hours of footage. Sure, I could find it easily, but if I were to make something that's concise and to the point, it would be much more appealing to watch
phobiatoo bad this game is kinda boring to spectate
I don't think boring is the correct way to describe it. It looks cool since it's very modern and with lots of colors, but my only complaint as a spectator is that there's way too much visual clutter. And that's from watching a player pov and a spectator pov
trashperhaps as a better wording: explain a specific section of a match, a short, but still key winning round. something that can give off a lot of easy-to-digest info within about four minutes
my overall point, though, is that the first thing new people see from this should be describing what makes people love the game
I'm thinking for that to be some kind of background footage as like an intro/outro for the video, since there are so many points from matches that I can use
MrFahr3nheitI feel like multiple videos covering each individual topic all bundled into a playlist is less intimidating than viewing a single 45 minute video.
You'd be doing a great service to new players by creating this and I have nothing but support for you.
Appreciate it. Thanks!
trashwhile I like the idea, I should note that, for at least the first part of this, you shouldn't really explain rules and formats at all. not inherently because it's a bad point to bring up, mind, but because the most important part of a good game is its core concepts, and as such, for the first section, you should try and explain why we love those concepts.
it's easy to pick from ssbm just b/c of how well-executed its grassroots efforts were, but lemme pick from that again: think about how the first episode of the smash brothers showed the game. it never actually went into much detail over formats or even most of the mechanics until it sufficiently explained just why people find it a beautiful game.
as an example, maybe analyse a recent match in general language (explaining the core things like deathmatching and uber pushes along the way), focusing on a simple overall strategy and what makes them work
But to an extent I feel like explaining that would be going too much in depth, or I would end up overexplaining it
