This is a thing that I've thought about doing for quite a while now, if there isn't anything like this out there already. If there is, could someone inform me so I don't go through the effort of going down a path that someone has already gone through.
This idea actually came to me when I happened to stay at my cousin's place for a weekend, and as we were watching videos, I decided to show him the i55 grand finals. He enjoyed watching it, but he had no idea what was going on. Given that he had no previous exposure to TF2, it inspired me to (potentially) start a video series that would help those that have no idea about TF2 or the competitive gamemode and be able to give them enough info so that they can at least follow along with what's going on.
I do plan on covering 6v6 and Highlander, but the 6v6 videos will end up being released first. Probably my most difficult challenge is going to be finding the halfway point between going in-depth just enough and going too much in-depth. So I'll post my plans on this thread here on what I plan on covering exactly, and I'll take feedback on what I need to cover more or less on for specific targets. So this post is probably gonna be really long.
I plan on (learning how to) do SFM animations for a lot of this.
6v6:
-Map formats
>How 5cp and koth maps are played
>Explain basic map areas (such as gullywash big door vs choke) [I may or may not include this. If it should be included, I can include it.]
-Classes
>2 soldiers, 2 scouts, 1 demoman, 1 medic
>1 offclass of every other class allowed (because it allows for a moderate flow of the game?)
>Medic ubercharges (uber vs kritz, only explain what they do and not why you use them)
Here is the script in its most updated form. Changes will be made as I edit it and stuff like that. Please leave any recommendations for me below!
I probably forgot some stuff. Will edit later when I have more time. Let me know what I need to put in. This is only the basic foundation of what I'm going to be making. Also, should I make multiple videos covering each topic separately or one long video with checkpoints showcasing all of the topics for each respective gamemode?
HL: To come soon
This is gonna take quite a while, as I'm currently in the middle of college classes and won't have all my video editing software at my disposal. The best I have is a laptop that barely runs tf2 at lowest quality and (soon) SFM for animations
Edit (3-15-16): Also, inb4 anyone mentions this as what's already been done. It's multiple years old, lies a ways inside the video AND doesn't include any explanation at all of the koth format. So I figured that it was about time to make something more updated while also maintaining the rulesets for multiple divisions, as NA and EU have slight variations on their rulesets. It was very well done, but it's not up to date. And I feel that if we were to include more recent content (from i55 and maybe even dreamhack), then it would be more appealing to newer players, as they would recognize what they would see in this video.
