mousiopeim not sure if that still works but id recommend you edit your comment before that gets patched ..

Valve could very easily add an r_drawviewmodel alpha or transparency value and things would be great then. I'm pretty sure people in CSGO would love something like this as well

#8 Lunchbox/throwable weapons rebalance idea in TF2 General Discussion

I already put this in another thread, so I'll just repost what I had already suggested

Koncept
  • Change lunchbox items (any consumable/drinkable item) to only be used once. The item can then only be restored by touching a resupply cabinet, similar to how the razorback works. Will work similarly with sandman and wrap assassin given that the player does not retrieve their ball. Also applies to jarate, mad milk, and cleaver

This won't make the items immediately good for league play, but it will surely be a step from where it is today, as some items are incredibly dumb and probably shouldn't have been added in terms of competitive play. But knowing that before valve was balancing the game towards pubs, silly unlocks like these were actually acceptable.

I also personally believe that weapon rebalancing should be done in coordination with the competitive community, as having things like the sandman in its current form cost a team a win on LAN need to be rebalanced so it's actually an all around fair weapon. How and if it will be achieved: I may never know. But those are just my thoughts.

fahrenheitwhat if you rework its mechanics and make the GRU give a 2 or 3 second long speed boost when its completely brought out so you cant just switch weapons and constantly go fast forever. this would effectively change the weapon to make it some kind of retreat or quick repositioning utility

maybe even give it a weapon switching penalty

other downsides are negotiable

I want to say kos suggested changing the gru to allow the heavy to bhop and gain speed with each successful bhop, but I'm not entirely sure how valve would explain the idea of bhopping to your average pubber

This is the sort of thing Valve probably wouldn't put in because it is just too easy/obvious to grief with.

That makes sense. Didn't think about it that way. Maybe only having the boost apply to the target rather than the soldier and his target would be a little better

Jackal176KonceptJackal176Apologies if this has already been answered here before, but I've been trying to make a custom HUD for some time now, and while I was trying to update it for Meet Your Match, I noticed that the SpectatorTargetID would be in the wrong place (not above the target's head) or not present at all. I tried messing around with the SpectatorGuiHealth.res file, I even deleted it and started it from scratch but the issue is still there. Can anyone help me?

It looks like you have floating health numbers disabled

tf_hud_target_id_disable_floating_health 0 should be the command to replace the value above the player's head. Then you can go and edit the file to your liking.
Sorry for the late reply, I kind of forgot I asked a question here. I tried what you said but the problem is still there. I tried to take some pictures again and what happens from what I understand is the health value above teammates moves from ontop of their head to a certain position on the screen, depending on where you are standing on the map and how you look at the target. Sometimes it's not there at all. I took some more pictures to try and showcase this a bit better http://imgur.com/a/m7dBJ

Try playing around with values in resouce\ui\HealthIconPanel.res. This will move the floating health numbers when tf_hud_target_id_disable_floating_health is set to 0. You will need to mess with the values in CMainTargetID in hudlayout.res to move the health number when tf_hud_target_id_disable_floating_health is set to 1.
