JWBwill the Xiao (kidz newz network) roster be the same as their one for lan?
this aged well

Hildrethsagenothing attracts newcomers to comp more than long maptalks
maybe allowing coaches to play medic like in previous newbie cups would help
Lay out ground rules about turning up, explaining why you're late - give the most dedicated / available (all of my team been dedicated but not all been available) the opportunity to play.
It's made clear that attending all of the sessions is mandatory but when people still don't do it our only option is to bench them and replace them with new mains who were previously subs. This works fine until we run out of a pool of keen subs.
overall it's going fine rn for most of the teams though, just takes a lot of work to keep on top of
final bump I promise, looking for preferably 2 more coaches. if you can't handle the full schedule you could bring in someone to be your assistant to fill in for you as long as you know that between you both you will be able to fulfil all the coaching sessions.
Thought I'd bump to add that we could also use some casters/producers. Also still could use some more coaches to provide more stability. :)
Starkie 2. His first legacy was before even i55, he's had so many moments since then. If you want to do someone you haven't done one on yet though then pick slemnish.
maybe Thalash 2 as well...

From the start we've been against this idea, because it gives a disadvantage to teams with actual newbie medics and would make them feel like they're letting their team down. Yes, we do actually get plenty of newbies wanting to play medic.
Hey all, TFNew Cup #5 is coming up but we will be in need of more coaches if we want to be able to support at least 12 teams. Below is the coaching schedule.
- Coaches will be assigned to teams on the weekend of the 2nd-3rd November
- Monday 4th November @ 18:30 (all times in CET/CEST): coaches give an introductory session to teams. This is not meant to be for going over any maps in particular, but rather explaining basic concepts like class roles, holding, pushing, uber advantage, sacs, trades, etc (allow for at least an hour).
- Tuesday 5th November @ 18:30: coaches give a maptalk for gullywash and snakewater to teams. At 20:00 the teams scrim each other on these maps. If coaches are able to watch these scrims to give feedback afterwards that is great, but not mandatory.
- Thursday 7th November @ 18:30: granary and process maptalks. Teams scrim at 20:00.
- Monday 11th November @ 18:30: product maptalk. Teams scrim at 20:00 on product and a map of their choice.
- Tuesday 12th November @ 20:00: Teams scrim 2 maps of their choice. Coaches are not required but again having them watch and give feedback afterwards would be beneficial for the teams.
- Wednesday 13th November @ 18:30: Coaches meet with teams to give one final session answering any questions the players may have and providing any final feedback they may have before the cup.
- Cup itself then runs from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th.
Why does it have to be so structured? Why can't we just figure out when we will do coaching sessions with the team once we are assigned to them?
In the past we had it less structured, and the newbies often didn't show up/engage. We impose structure because we believe it is beneficial when working with newbies.
How experienced do you have to be to coach?
None of the players will have played above open, so it's not necessary for all of the coaches to be high level. We will preferably we looking for people who have at least decent placings/experience in Mid (6s) (or other regions' equivalent) though
Do coaches have to be EU?
Not necessary, as long as you can make the times.
Feel free to DM any questions to JWB#6651 on Discord or post on this thread.
To apply to be a coach join discord.io/TFNew and post an application in the #role-applications channel.
Thanks
edit: 6s btw
MisterDanny
If you're here just to enjoy yourself and dont care about growth, alright, but this is not anything that could even come clsoe to a "sustainable tournament circuit", b4nny is willing to give other formats a chance to invite in newer players, people like you should realize that attempting to pool new players into 6s is wasted time, your TFNew projects is "not where it used to be" according to your own twitter.
.
Like Happiness said, projects like TFNew are volunteer based so definitely volatile. That said though, TFNew cup #5 is well underway and the Discord server now has over 1k members. Now seems to be a convenient opportunity to shamelessly plug the fact that we need coaches so if anyone wants to take on the task hmu on discord JWB#6651 or apply in #role-applications on the Discord server discord.io/TFNew ;)
edit: also the idea that rounds in NR6s being faster makes it viable/better is a joke. When sigafoo first posted that data, individuals like DrH and DCS pointed out on Twitter that it being the first season of NR6s means people aren't going to be as used to it yet and so will make more mistakes and rounds will be faster. It's the reason open rounds in 6s are often a lot shorter than prem rounds because it's easier to snowball off enemy mistakes in open because the mistakes are bigger and the enemies don't know how to recover. In 10 years time, will Invite NR6s in its current state be a fast paced, exciting format?
MisterDannyIseries represents the center of competitive TF2 and has been decreasing in viewership (and prize pool) since it's first iteration back in 2007,
iSeries prizepools have actually got bigger (peaked at i55 at 10k, still bigger today at 6-7k than the earlier ones' 5k or less) and viewership for i63 was bigger than any tf2 event ever. idk where u get ur info from fam.
not claiming the game is thriving but ur take is dumb
b4nny doesnt support pugchamp because its made to "stagnate" but then his own pugging platform (TF2PL) is the same format of 6s with restrictions? hmm
the tf2c admins (namely MasterNoob) are morons I doubt you will get unbanned unfortunately
