#43 So... what did this update actually fix? in TF2 General Discussion
KevinIsPwnPeople complaining about the shortstop probably haven't tried it. If you got close enough to actually do that to anyone in a competitive game, you'd just be feeding.

Agreed.

If you're close enough to shove someone while you're playing with the shortstop you're already doing it wrong.

If you're going to constantly be so close that shove makes any difference, you should just be on scattergun, so you can hit 100 damage meatshots instead of 70 damage meatshots.

As far as the shortstop's style of play is concerned, they just lost the +healing buff in return for nothing. Essentially a direct, un-needed nerf.

#7 Survey for biology class in Off Topic

I think the real answer is that the dog needs a onesie.

The first option leaves the dog's butthole open to air, which is indecent, and defeats the purpose of pants.

The second option doesn't even cover one of his legs!

So the correct choice is a full-body onesie that leaves holes for neck, legs, and tail (upward facing, to hide butthole)

Here, I drew my prevised onesie in paint:

#32 UPDATE VID OUT in TF2 General Discussion

So I wonder if "casual mode" is going to have leaver penalties since its placing you in an actual 12v12. Would kind of kill the entire reason I ever go into pubs (no commitment, join/leave whenever), even if its already rarely.

Or is quickplay going to stay the same and casual mode also being added in addition to competitive mode? Doesn't sound like that at least.

#6 interp won't change in Customization
Phoenix21[

you should use cl_interp_ratio to control your interp, the values are in natural numbers, 1 in ratio equals 0.0152 in regular interp, and every value is multiplying the interp value, so the next one is not 0.033, but 0.0303 and then 0.0455.

The reason I have mine set to 0.033 is due to a comment by wareya somewhere on these forums I remember reading (perhaps I was mistaken or misread) saying that you shouldn't use the exact interval value, but slightly above it..

I also use cmdrate and updaterate on 67 because 66 is lower than the game's tickrate of 66.6. Whether it helps or not I don't know, but figured it can't really hurt.

#4 interp won't change in Customization

There are more net settings than just interp you have to change. If your cmdrate and updrate are low then you also limit how low your interp can go.

From chris/comanglia's configs:

// Good connection
cl_cmdrate 67 // The tricks to get 1.4ms lerp are placebo you're still forced to .0152
cl_interp .033 // change to whatever you like for certain classes projectiles/popping uber/flames = .0152 hitscan = .031 on bad connections = .062
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_smooth 0
cl_smoothtime 0.01
cl_updaterate 67 // The tricks to get 1.4ms lerp are placebo you're still forced to .0152
rate 62000 // anything above 62,000 is completely useless, anything above 48,000ish is useless in HL

// Bad connection
//cl_cmdrate 40
//cl_interp 0
//cl_interp_ratio 2
//cl_lagcompensation 1
//cl_pred_optimize 2
//cl_smooth 0
//cl_smoothtime 0.01
//cl_updaterate 40
//rate 35000

#27 tftv twitch reruns? in TF2 General Discussion
DavidTheWinSpecific usages like that are definitely possible but it means making one PC mostly unusable for the duration of the replay. What would be replayed is the same as what we upload to youtube which is the cast in its entirety excluding the start/end music but including the pre- and post-game analysis and analysis between maps. Editing the VODs any further than that isn't useful because there isn't a neat point at which to cut them and you lose a lot of context.

Would you not be able to just pipe the audio using something like virtual audio cables? It'd obviously still be a burden on the cpu, but I don't see why it needs to make the computer "unusable for the duration of the replay".

Not sure if there's a plugin to automate it or not, but this is possible without any plugin.

So has anyone used this on ESEA client? Just curious. I asked reload01 a while back if it would be acceptable on client, and received a response of no, that it wouldn't be (Sorry for not posting so here), so I was wondering if there was anyone who went a season and didn't get banned for using it.
