defyoh thank god UGC is still around what would we do without it

I understand u love esea to death but what good is it to bash UGC? It still fuels like 90% of your scene playerbase and it's actually the entry point league in your scene. The players in open today were the players in ugc a few seasons ago, so I don't know what you're trying to accomplish with that but its probably not helping.

#1 Happy New Year 2015!! in Off Topic

So, as you might know, we Europeans live in the future, but our brothers from Down under live even more in the future than us, so here's to a great 2015 to them and to all of you. May your dreams and aspirations come a little bit closer next year and may tf2 live not die, another year.

Also accepting bets for how many "tf2 is ded" threads will be created in 2015.

Arena Respawn is fuckin retarded.

I've literally played tf2 pub arena servers 2 times in 6 years and I have almost 6k hours in this game. Also I've never seen a full arena server. TF2 is not an arena game.

#16 Archimedes Cup sponsored by scrap.tf in TF2 General Discussion

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to have a newbie only tourney with a bigger prize pool than prem itself. That's just asking for trouble.

I ran a newbie only 6v6 tourney through comp.tf about 1 year ago and there was a lot of drama surrounding some players and teams and mind u the prize was just a couple dozen keys if I remember correctly.

#66 baud banned again.. in TF2 General Discussion
SetsulKanecoSo it's kinda weird that it doesn't detect some supposedly private tf2 cheats that aren't even that profitable and less feature rich than said cs cheatsLess used private cheat with less features = higher chance of getting detected

I'm not exactly sure how that's supposed to be logical.

What I meant is that cs cheats are far more advanced and profitable for "cheatmakers" than tf2 cheats, so it will have an effect in their quality, so if they can detect some pretty exclusive private cheats for cs that even worked at lan how could they haven't detected some tf2 cheat of the same kind?

#60 baud banned again.. in TF2 General Discussion
SheepylolKanecoSheepy man u seem to have some deep hatred for the guy.

I don't hate him but I trust the AC admins judgement. If baud isn't hacking then the AC admins have fucked up big time (again) but considering the mistakes they have made in the past I am pretty sure they wouldn't ban him if they weren't totally sure he was hacking. So I am gonna trust them on this one. Also the fact he hasn't been vac banned comes down to how valve just don't care about competitive tf2 so they don't put the time and effort into finding cheats for this game.

I would guess in a game like tf2 that uses source pretty much any improvvement in detection of cheats for cs will have some effect on tf2 cheat detection as well.

So it's kinda weird that it doesn't detect some supposedly private tf2 cheats that aren't even that profitable and less feature rich than said cs cheats

#50 baud banned again.. in TF2 General Discussion

Sheepy man u seem to have some deep hatred for the guy.

Afaik he was banned for aim assist which is the same as saying, "we dont know what the fuck is happening in these demos but this guy is just 2gud, lets ban him". you would think after getting banned for 2 times and 2 years later he would already have been affected by VAC at least? Especially with vac being more and more up to date to recent cheats, even private cs ones.

To be honest I'm not gonna judge the guy until there's hard evidence of it "aka" VAC ban, any speculation otherwise would feel like an injustice. I think being labeled a cheater wrongly is probably the worst thing u can have happen to you.

Also I don't believe the "if u cheat once u will cheat again" philosophy, not even applied to real life, it's really dumb to judge someone for life and assume they are unable to better themselves based on past actions.

#8 Before going into comp in TF2 General Discussion

If you want to get into comp tf2 it's obvious that you have something competitive about yourself, if you have that you will invariably want to get better, to get better you will need to practice a lot, practice takes time...

It's all a bit redundant because if you're really interested in comp you will spend time on it, how much it depends on you, but if you enjoy it I wouldn't consider it time wasted, obviously there are a lot of priorities in life and things change sometimes.

When I got into comp I spent a whole lot of time doing comp related stuff and practicing, but I enjoyed it, sometimes I went too far and messed my priorities because of it but it depends entirely on you, on how you can handle that and set limits for yourself. You can have a set and planned schedule and you can still get better without wasting all your time.

#25 stabby-stabby leaving TF2 in TF2 General Discussion

What killed pubs wasn't really the silly unlocks and random shit. Was quickplay. ANd the restrictions valve set for quickplay. It killed 90% of the pub communities in tf2, and being part of a community was the most fun part of pubs.

We used to have 3-4 community servers always full in Portugal, with a lot of regulars. After quickplay came and specially after valve changed restrictions for quickplay you're lucky if you even see 1 of those full, it killed all the servers.

Nowadays u just press quickplay and end up in a luxembourg 2fort valve server with random people with 300 ping

#74 Help! If TF2 had CS:GO ranks what would they be? in TF2 General Discussion
CHERRYKanecoWithout going too much into it how do you differenciate a roamer solly from a pocket solly for example? Or you don't? Because if you're only getting information from the logs alone, a roaming solly can have half the kills and dmg of the pocket but be much more on point with bombs and contributing to the team a lot for example.

I definitely think you shouldn't do a global ranking based on logs.tf. For example tf2pickups logs are all named accordingly so it would be easy to filtrate them in order to do a independent ranking for the site for example.
RadmanPart of the point of a skill rating system is so players are punished for not trying (or trolling).
Which is why dota has ranked and non ranked games, altough the non ranked games still have an internal mmr, it's bound to be different as you are not expected to tryhard as you would in ranked matches.
I believe there is some scheme they have to fit in to be considered a roamer or pocket like percentage of heals, their position like close to medic or being the first to push, loadout (gunboats, escape plan) it's all numbers and if you can tell who is a pocket just looking at the game computer can do that too.

Well but there are those exceptions where the roamer has a really good game and might even get more kills and dmg than the pocket, and the pocket might not even have much heals because the team plays more with the demo, those exceptions kinda have to be taken in consideration. But of course I guess winning/loosing a round should impact the rating a lot more than individual stats.
