SalamancerIt definitely seems like a structural issue. I don't think I've seen a season go by since last year without at least one invite team dying before the season ended. Once a team realizes it's not going to LAN and thus has no real reason to keep playing/practicing, there's just no incentive to keep the roster together.
So how does ESEA change that?
ESEA does nothing to change that. This is a problem due to invite's inflated egos where it's playoffs or we're dead. It's pathetically sad and invite is the worst kind of role model as this mindset clearly ripples down to the lower leagues. This doesn't happen in any other game. In CS, they actually move down Invite teams because they've been there so long and haven't done well. A good possible solution would be a "secondary" bracket where they just play for pride rather than prize.
