Chicago itself? That's pricey just to get an area to do the lan. The hotel where Ultimate Fighting Game tournament is held should be fine, just up in Northbrook too.
If dreamhack happens, that should bring exposure to tf2
Remember the shit-fest that went down with FT vs Chess Club? A lot of redditors were talking about issues, and one thing that I saw was that the new ones would say "this the first cast I watched..."
Well how about getting the tf.tv casters, or even the eXtv casters to low end games, and even small community tournaments, and while waiting, they could talk about the game mode's and what's involved. Have those casters post something on reddit, and we just up vote the bloody hell out of it. It'll involve more communities & even help grow a bit.
Just a suggestion though.

Keep in mind they are for real beginners. We never made it to demo. I helped in writing the scout one, I am to blame for all that cheese :[
Could also bring this back using the tf.tv youtube, and even post articles about it. Having a main class players, b4nny for example, talk about demo. While having one main over all player talk about mids/chokes/pushes, as a team. Again, another suggestion .-.

You can do cool things by mixing default crosshairs with HUD ones, like having a dot for primary and then adding a cross for secondary or something. Just hide the default one on primary and enable it for secondary while your HUD one persists.

Really though? What was on his youtube channel? If it's casting in SC2/Dota2 and at gamescon/IPL/Defense, then I'd understand, but if it isn't. Just shrug it off, especially if he's doing what you said "I can message you but you can't message me."
You're one of the best casters I've watched and for a small set of reasons: you're funny, give information, and a can-do attitude with each cast.

I only played this map once when my friend was having issues with his PC. The only feedback I can say is that the roll out felt weird since the objects that b4nny pointed out [picture below] felt like they were in the way.

reillyYou might want to reconsider you cleanliness then Myles. I've had my Qck+ for a year now, and it just had a small area in the middle that is fading, from whatever ends up between my mouse and the pad (and it's the plain black one too). Still works perfectly fine, and I'd recommend it.
Can't prevent parents putting crap on top of it. I've washed it like 7 times too, gave up when they wouldn't listen =[ works fine though.
I use the QcK+ Na'Vi edition, I regret the choice of QcK+ (got dirty way to fast) but I love the pad size.
