MaverickMSG-STV demos still aren't handled properly, but I'm hoping to have a workaround for this soon.

More of a proof of concept than anything else, but I was able to get STV rendering working:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfFNr4UyhE0

Basically it cycles through each player's POV, changing the spectated player every 45 seconds. Thoughts?

Bump with an update:
-Custom addons have been implemented, so donators now have the ability to set a custom hud or hitsound. Other customizations can also be done, I'm just not sure what other ones people want (so feel free to ask)
-Added a number of cvars into the system such that donators can change them on a per-demo render basis
-A majority of the issues previous brought up have been addressed at least in some manner or another; remote and direct uploads are now handled better,
-STV demos still aren't handled properly, but I'm hoping to have a workaround for this soon.
-I've been rendering a number of POV demos to the tf2 channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingMovieDbTF2) and I posted in http://www.teamfortress.tv/22296/tf2-pov-youtube-channel to see if more people would be interested in me hosting a POV-only playlist/channel. If there is more interest I can look into this further.

Thanks.

ransiblingnot sure if anyone has heard of this channel, but it has uploaded some of the povs from i55 to youtube.

https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingMovieDbTF2/videos

pretty neat

As players have been linking their demos I've been grabbing a few and posting them there. Any requests?

#31 tf2 pov youtube channel in Videos

Sorry to bump this necro thread, but I've recently been doing some more work with the renderer at igmdb.org.

I realized that if a specific set of keywords were part of the description then I could have the video be automatically added into a playlist. Would you guys be interested in something like that? For instance, adding "POV demo" to the description would make it be added to a "POV only" playlist. Thoughts?

Seeing as how the hud is causing some crashes does anyone have any recommendations on replacement?

On that note, if anyone else submitted a render and it didn't finish let me know and I'll resubmit it.

Vini_Yeah, I submitted once, render failed, and only 30 seconds video was uploaded, twice. I didn't see the e-mail since it was on the "spam" folder. But apparently and admin has been notified. Hopefully those 2 30s videos will be removed and they'll fix it. :S

So with a small push from flatline, I found out that the hud that we are using was causing tf2 to crash. I've removed it temporarily and rerendered a few videos.

flatlineYea I just tried to re render and still just the first 7 seconds

For some reason the encoder keeps crapping out 7 or 8 seconds into your video, so yeah, I've got to check a few things out. It works fine with other demos though, so I'm not sure if the problem is within TF2 or within the encoder or within the demo itself. I'll have some more information about this soon.

Thanks to you all for testing this out!

The url needs to end in .dem

The URL technically doens't need to, but dropbox sometimes reports back non-direct links to the demo which just serve to confuse the system. If the final file it tries to download is lacking a .dem extension it'll fail though.

flatlineI just got the same bug as Doug did. I was uploading a snakewater_final1 demo to the server, I don't know if you guys'd have that map

Sent you an email good sir. Looks like the place hosting your demo doesn't allow direct linking so I have to grab it manually. The renderer kicked off successfully so you should receive an email when things are done.

VaskieI wouldn't mind doing a bit of research to see if it's possible to make it so that it follows a player but i never heard of it in the past to be honest. Maybe follow the same procedure as CS:GO ?

Update:

The good news:
-It rendered properly!

The bad news:
-The POV doesn't change, as expected:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=851X7Wxpbx8

I know casters when viewing a CS;GO match can use an 'auto-director' to follow the action and switch from pov to pov. Possible here?

VaskieMaverickMSG, this is a SourceTV demo for Dotter Vs LEGO (Premiership ETF2L) - http://etf2l.org/demos/4326

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of research to see if it's possible to make it so that it follows a player but i never heard of it in the past to be honest. Maybe follow the same procedure as CS:GO ?

Thank you for everything!

Thanks. I've submitted the demo just now so we'll see how it looks in a few hours

MightyMeI can upload it somewhere else, but the problem is that I don't know a (good) site to upload the 60fps version so it can be streamed on the imgdb website

I uploaded this to my mirrors so you should be good to go. I also added the download link to the site, however you can't really stream it from there.

DougYou probably have been notified as it says in the e-mail, just posting to know if it was anything I did on the upload that made the error happen.

Yeah, I get the same email. The server was missing the map so I uploaded it and your render completed properly. Sorry about that.

Great idea. This was actually already implemented.

But... early on in testing we realized that you could just upload *any* audio file, including music, which would mean the Youtube channel would then be liable for any copyrighted music infringements. This would be a nice trusted-user donator-only kind of thing but you'd still have to worry about the copyright issue.

Thanks Vaskie. Can you post the link to your render?

I actually don't believe I've tested a SourceTV demo. Feel free to upload one and we can try it. For science.

I'm not sure if I can tell TF2 to automatically follow a player/players. I think CSGO has that ability though. Any idea what the cvars would be to control that? Alternatively if there is a variable I can set to make it only follow a certain person I can do that as well. I can't interact with TF2 though, everything has to be automated.
