MaverickMSG, this is a SourceTV demo for Dotter Vs LEGO (Premiership ETF2L) - http://etf2l.org/demos/4326
I wouldn't mind doing a bit of research to see if it's possible to make it so that it follows a player but i never heard of it in the past to be honest. Maybe follow the same procedure as CS:GO ?
Thank you for everything!

How do I add the 60fps version as a stream?
Do I have to upload it somewhere else and then link that as a stream?
Yeah, you can link it using the mirrors tab, just like you have already added the mega.co.nz. Just click the "Add Download" button. I saw you posted the movie and am trying to get a mirror up, but mega is being really slow. If you need to, hit me up on steam and I can provide an ftp site if that'll help the uploading.
I can upload it somewhere else, but the problem is that I don't know a (good) site to upload the 60fps version so it can be streamed on the imgdb website

I uploaded a demo and got this e-mail:
You demo render has finished.
There were errors in the rendering process:
Renderer didn't output avi during startup loop
An admin has been notified of this issue; your demo will most likely be resubmitted and rerendered when the problem is fixed or you will be contacted otherwise. Please do *not* resubmit this demo.
You probably have been notified as it says in the e-mail, just posting to know if it was anything I did on the upload that made the error happen.

I uploaded this to my mirrors so you should be good to go. I also added the download link to the site, however you can't really stream it from there.

Yeah, I get the same email. The server was missing the map so I uploaded it and your render completed properly. Sorry about that.

Update:
The good news:
-It rendered properly!
The bad news:
-The POV doesn't change, as expected:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=851X7Wxpbx8
I know casters when viewing a CS;GO match can use an 'auto-director' to follow the action and switch from pov to pov. Possible here?

I don't have much knowledge in that kinda area but hopefully someone that works within teamfortress.tv would be able to answer, maybe lange ? :D

Sent you an email good sir. Looks like the place hosting your demo doesn't allow direct linking so I have to grab it manually. The renderer kicked off successfully so you should receive an email when things are done.

All right. I saw that, but the renderer still doesn't have a youtube link up after it supposedly finishing.
I'll host it with something like dropbox next time (mediafire was the only one i had on hand atm)
edit: 'x264 encoding failed' was the contents of the email I just got.

So it finally rendered and uploaded but it's only the first 7 seconds (I did specify time parameters for the upload, about 20 seconds)

For everyone getting the "encoding failed" this is what I learned talking with Maverick about the problems I got:
1) Your link has to be directly for the download, it can't lead you to a page where you have to click somewhere to download it.
My first try was with the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nhwrhd47saore3a/20131124_2122_koth_coalplant_b2a_w2r_1st.dem
But if you click it, you still have to click in "Download" to get the file. But the "rendering bot" doesn't know that, so he "thinks" he is getting a really small .dem file.
So I sent this link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/nhwrhd47saore3a/20131124_2122_koth_coalplant_b2a_w2r_1st.dem
And it worked!
2) The url needs to end in .dem
When I was getting the second link, Dropbox gave me actually the link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/nhwrhd47saore3a/20131124_2122_koth_coalplant_b2a_w2r_1st.dem?dl=1&token_hash=AAFHY6Rgs-ykYyPnhaSkBk0UmlZxz_6GQe9jxljAcIY8hw
But when you try to send it, the site thinks this is not a .dem file, so I removed everything after .dem and tried again. Worked.

Yeah, I submitted once, render failed, and only 30 seconds video was uploaded, twice. I didn't see the e-mail since it was on the "spam" folder. But apparently and admin has been notified. Hopefully those 2 30s videos will be removed and they'll fix it. :S

Yea I just tried to re render and still just the first 7 seconds

flatlineYea I just tried to re render and still just the first 7 seconds
For some reason the encoder keeps crapping out 7 or 8 seconds into your video, so yeah, I've got to check a few things out. It works fine with other demos though, so I'm not sure if the problem is within TF2 or within the encoder or within the demo itself. I'll have some more information about this soon.
Thanks to you all for testing this out!
The url needs to end in .dem
The URL technically doens't need to, but dropbox sometimes reports back non-direct links to the demo which just serve to confuse the system. If the final file it tries to download is lacking a .dem extension it'll fail though.

So with a small push from flatline, I found out that the hud that we are using was causing tf2 to crash. I've removed it temporarily and rerendered a few videos.

For recording a certain perspective in an STV Demo, I think you might be able to use the "spec_player <player name here>" console command. The only issue is that I believe you have to have the exact name of the player, and I've actually never used it before so I'm not too sure how it works.

Seeing as how the hud is causing some crashes does anyone have any recommendations on replacement?

currently 101 tfc movies and 56 tf2 movies are on the site. all of them has a youtube stream, howver we gonna set up alternative streams too in case of shit hits the fan, and ofc if it gets blocked in your country (mostly the germans who doesnt pay to the big brother :D)

Bump with an update:
-Custom addons have been implemented, so donators now have the ability to set a custom hud or hitsound. Other customizations can also be done, I'm just not sure what other ones people want (so feel free to ask)
-Added a number of cvars into the system such that donators can change them on a per-demo render basis
-A majority of the issues previous brought up have been addressed at least in some manner or another; remote and direct uploads are now handled better,
-STV demos still aren't handled properly, but I'm hoping to have a workaround for this soon.
-I've been rendering a number of POV demos to the tf2 channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingMovieDbTF2) and I posted in http://www.teamfortress.tv/22296/tf2-pov-youtube-channel to see if more people would be interested in me hosting a POV-only playlist/channel. If there is more interest I can look into this further.
Thanks.

More of a proof of concept than anything else, but I was able to get STV rendering working:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfFNr4UyhE0
Basically it cycles through each player's POV, changing the spectated player every 45 seconds. Thoughts?

Apologies for the bump, but wanted to highlight a new feature that was released on the site today: the ability to render a specific POV in an STV demo. Been a long time coming, but well worth it imo.

i was always wondering whats the specs of the renderer machine were looking and also the footprint render leaves on the machine in terms of cpu/ram usage and storage
also i would like to add, the inclusion of CastingEssentials would benefit the "player POV on an STV" feature since that would also enable hitsounds and damage numbers for the spectated player, as well as the %playeractive% killfeed

@jnki I went ahead and got CastingEssentials going:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbqCgP8irVA
- basic CE config so nothing really special and not super familiar with the plugin enough to proceed without more help/input. To keep things interesting the POV automatically changes every so often, however CE's autoswitch handles things otherwise. Damage numbers and sounds don't appear to work, however I can't tell if that is due to the STV demo missing that data. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know.
The render machine is: i7-6700 w/ Nvidia GTX 970 and 16GB memory. During a render most of the machine (gpu + cpu + memory) is consumed; the goal is to render the demo out as fast as possible so the encoding is done synchronously at the hardware level. It's for the love of the game and technology.
