right now the asus 24" 144hz monitor (VG248QE) is 100 bucks less than the BenQ for basically the same features (~$289 vs $389). Only gripes I've heard is some people have bad colors out of the box but there's some custom profiles that fix it. Both can do lightboost. The Asus seems like a no brainer deal right now

fov hacks and whitewalls are legal in those leagues? That's kind of surprising...those are pretty clear advantages, especially when spies are in play.
From reading a bunch of reviews that Asus VG248QE sounds like a really good deal, especially given it's $100 less in the US at this time than the BenQ.
I may just pull the trigger, it sounds like the colors are bad out of the box but there are color profiles you can get that make them likely better than the BenQ out of the box.
Too bad I don't have an nvidia card so I wouldn't be able to use lightboost.
Edit: ordered one off amazon, yeehaw - I'll reply back on my impressions going from a 6+ year old 60hz LCD once I get it
All pubs all the time:
Playing against pyros, getting flamed from 50 yards away. When playing as pyro, having a flame range of 2 feet.
Random crits- dice rolls don't help new players learn from why they died. (a supposed emphasis from valve). Dying from a string of them is infuriating. The better you play the more frustrating they are because they will make up an increasing percentage of your few deaths.
As a sniper, shooting into a mass of 6 people and somehow missing everything, i'm skilled.
missing headshots on targets standing still due to unaligned hitboxes.
missing 2 consecutive headshots on a target standing still, I'm GOOD!
Jarating the back of a suddenly in the way teammate instead of the glob of enemies.
Being a good teammate and playing medic in a pub when noone else will, then realizing there is absolutely noone worth healing on the entire team.
Having to go demoman to single handedly swing the round if your team is vastly inferior. Pub rounds generally being determined by which team is using more moderately competent demomen.
Minisentries- they add nothing to the game other than annoyance, scouts were already niche enough in non cp maps.
mge:
fail rocket jumps for 120 self damage
badlands mid magic rockets for zero damage
A recent one - soldier against yz50 bland mid while he uses pistol only. A single rocket jump and I have 40 health upon landing. I didn't know it was possible to hit two consecutive pistol shots, let alone deny jumpers more effectively than with the scatter.
Scout vs scout: when the opposing scout is strafing right against me and their model is taking up my entire view....meatshot for zero damage.
I wouldn't characterize those as gamebreaking outside of invis players, and I thought they recently fixed that?
Genuine curiosity- which bugs are game breaking rather than annoyances?
don't go with SLI where possible. There's always a question of microstutter and other issues, not to mention it ups your power supply requirements.
If I were to splurge on a setup I'd probably get a geforce 670 and a lightboost capable 120hz monitor (benQ ++). People have found that the nvidia '3d' lightboost feature can be used to greatly improve motion clarity in regular 2d mode. http://www.blurbusters.com/
That would likely raise your gaming experience so much more than other things, especially as you play FPS games.
this would be really interesting as medic - I could look behind myself to see what I'm about to get stuck on
Get this- http://www.mousetape.com/ Much cheaper and the same stuff basically, you just can cut it yourself.
haswell releases June 2nd- there might be a small price drop on Ivy bridge CPU around that time.
Overclocking isn't like it used to be by the way- It's really a sure thing to at least unlock 10-20% more performance out of the box with those K chips and most unlocked chips. I would still recommend getting a K series chip because even though you wouldn't overclock now you would always have that option in a few years if you're starting to see it limit you a bit.
I've had my e6600 for 6 years and I finally overclocked it last year to squeeze out some more life...lol.
there's sometimes a small clip on the side of the connector you cannot easily see, try to feel if there's any plastic tab on that side that you can lift away from the base (it could either be on the male or female part). Power connectors are always the worst connectors to deal with when building a PC, even if they don't have a clip. Split knuckle time!
looks awesome, it's amazing how much computer cases have improved cable management over the years.
I don't get what is so hard about accepting that you didn't achieve perfection on your FIRST attempt. Continue to work at it, listen to feedback, be honest with yourself - that's how you can develop something better.
