#53 Quick Fix? in TF2 General Discussion

Unless a soldier does a double rocket jump or a demo sticky jumps, you should easily be able to control where you go with the quick fix. I haven't had much issue with it.

#321 Update 7/10/13 in TF2 General Discussion

Do you want a balanced weapon or for the escape plan to stay a staple for every soldier ever? You can't say you want to balance it and then want to make it better than any other melee by changing a pointless damage stat. Pick one. If you do want it to remain a staple, then everything you say makes sense, but you keep talking as if you are properly balancing it by nerfing the damage.

#319 Update 7/10/13 in TF2 General Discussion
KanecoThey based most of their weapons balance around weapon usage stats.

Ex: 85% of the owners of X weapon use it, while only 15% of the owners of Y weapon use it. So let's nerf weapon X and perhaps buff weapon Y.

But they did it wrong. Pubbers take a lot of notice around damage stats, they usually stay off negative damage stats weapons and stick with damage bonus weapons. (ex: enforcer, brass beast, machina, etc...) While it's the only thing they look at, a damage stat matters a lot to pub players, I am convinced that if a 50% damage penalty was introduced instead of the marked for death effect, the almost 50% of users would drop by a significant margin, while still keeping the weapon main purpose, which is to be a viable escape plan, not a moving target saying kill me please.

How many pockets do you think are actually going to switch off the Escape Plan after this nerf? It is still insanely effective at rollout, which is most of what makes the Escape Plan such a staple in competitive play.

If you want to talk about properly balancing a weapon, then damage nerfing the Escape Plan is just silly.

#313 Update 7/10/13 in TF2 General Discussion
KanecoI wrote an e-mail to valve and sent to the tf2 team detailing some of what I think are the main issues with this update. Feel free to reuse it and send it through here or post it on SPUF, the more people do it the more it gets noticed.

Haven't we already established that any damage nerfs on the escape plan are useless?

Try a different melee item once in a while...

#7 New Loadouts in TF2 General Discussion

Everyone is talking about the battalions backup, but the conch is so much fun.

Its like a universal team whip and you get healed when you deal damage.

#13 not just map tweaks, weapons too in TF2 General Discussion

I'm fine with the DR nerf, but it would be nice if they made feigning more believable. As it stands, I know when its a Spy feigning because there isn't a hitsound indication, and its pretty easy to track a spy after they've feigned since they are so limited how far they can go as it is.

#24 is there any new mainter of fps cfg's? in TF2 General Discussion
causeYou seem to have a problem with me questioning the credentials of a person, and are deflecting that with "well anyone could be thrown into your argument".

Stabby has not once proved nor made strides anywhere regarding fps and configs of TF2. Why would I give the time of day to a person that can't back their work with proper experience? That's like hiring someone to do a job and not knowing whether or not they've actually be certified/done the job before. And even when I did give it the time of day (like suggested) to look through it, it's exactly as I expected. I did use the example of Lange in my prior posts, but if Lange made an fps config, I would look at it solely because of those credentials of past knowledge. Whether or not it would be different is a moot point.

You just seem to be upset that I said something about stabby that doesn't fit with your own personal views, which is a terrible grounds for a rebuttal discussion.

Why would you give ANYONE the time of day if you have already established that no strides can be made in fps configs? There is no point in pointing out stabby's lack of credentials if its already known that nothing else can be done.

#20 is there any new mainter of fps cfg's? in TF2 General Discussion

One could argue no posts in this thread really contribute to anything seeing as there is no new maintainer and there are no new cvars to mess around with, but one of the few posts that actually makes an attempt at showing a config is shot down immediately without even looking at the config.

You could imply that any configs from anyone will be tuning an existing config because there are no new tweaks available, so there was absolutely no point behind your post in #14...

#17 is there any new mainter of fps cfg's? in TF2 General Discussion
causePlaying the game for a long time does not mean you know what you're doing when it comes to configs.

Chris sat down for months and months to make the original config and sifted through all of Valve's console commands for TF2 (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/List_of_TF2_console_commands_and_variables). I humored you and looked at this stabby config. It's just a copy paste of bits and pieces of chris' config. Nothing special, as I assumed. He took the pieces that he liked and left the ones he didn't. That's hardly an updated fps config, rather is it just a personal taste fps config.

As it is, there is no reason to maintain the configs unless Valve releases updates for the existing commands or new commands which would be listed in the patch notes every patch. Chris' config is the best available and original config to use for fps. Everything else is a personal taste config, because there is no new commands used in any of them that distinguishes itself above chris'.

Instead of dismissing a cfg based on the person, why not dismiss it because you understand no new optimizations can really be made on the user's end instead of taking it as an opportunity to insult someone for no fucking reason.

You don't even need to put it in custom... tf/addons still works.

#21 Random Airshoutes Memories. in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyI made that entire intro in SFM and it looks like I just smoothed a TF2 demo. I added literally nothing to the animation. No lighting or anything. I made the animation and rendered it out. I wasn't saying to not animate in SFM and put it in a frag video. In fact, I 100% encourage you to always do that if you can/feel confident in doing it. SFM is the future of frag videos, well sorta.

Did you use SFM depth of field? Or is that done in post?

#10 FPS in TF2 General Discussion

You could probably use SrcDemo2 just for frame conversion if you wanted to keep using Vegas' frame blending(which looks far better IMO). Just set the blendrate to 1 and framerate to 480. That would allow you to get the benefit of .png files which take up significantly less space.

(Or you could live with SrcDemo2's frame blending and give yourself 30/60 FPS png sequences to work off of)

Why not save yourself the extra encode and use something like x264vfw?

#1 Prower's Stream in Requests

http://www.twitch.tv/GamingPrower

I streamed daily for a good amount of time, however I took a short break because I couldn't get TF2 sound to work. Now I got it fixed and I'm ready to submit my stream to tftv.

EDIT: I also plan to stream my UGC Plat 6s and Silver Highlander matches/scrims.
