Used to happen with both my FK and EC1 (same sensor) when using them on a non-all black mousepad

You can try using 2300 DPI and see if that fixes it, for me it was a matter of switching pads
Try cleaning under the sensor with a qtip and rubbing alcohol/water. I wouldn't worry about cleaning it, at least for the Zowie mice they all have a plastic panel over the sensor

FK1 fixed all the sensor problems and works on colored pads
Doing the mouse test I got a 5.77 m/s max speed, could probably work faster but I wasn't able to move my arm fast enough to test it (lol)

Artisan makes very good pads that last for a few months then die
