#17 All-girl, transatlantic TF2 HL showdown! in TF2 General Discussion
brownymasterAs a guy, I resent girl-only tourneys. Why not participate with guys in leagues that already exist? I think being the best of both genders warrants more bragging rights. This feels like the Olympics.

Seriously Renhet, go lobby the Olympics. They divide sports into men and women.

Except the Olympics are divided as such because of the physical differences between men and women. This does not apply to Team Fortress 2, or any video game.

Because all I hear about is women wanting to be equal, and then they purposefully separate themselves out for something like a girls-only show match like it's a novelty. What's the point? People are people. It isn't like I'm going to get to see their boobs during the game, so why should it be any more interesting than watching more seasoned players? Viewers should be earned, not granted because somebody has a vagina.

#18 SHOW YOUR CROSSHAIR! in Off Topic

Defaults colored light pink, + lines around the crosshair, sort of like Shifty's, but not intersecting or off-center or retarded.

It's not actually dubstep, despite that being Klaypex's usual shit.

But low HP and low ammo flash red by default? That's pretty good peripheral indication, I don't see the necessity of different-colored numbers (especially the blue and purple. Is anybody really confused about which is their loaded ammo and which is reserve?).

Also, the menu is not his design, but Chippy's.

But on the mention of scoreboard, I agree that it looks nice, but it's too pulled apart to me to be as functional in practice. I'd rather be able to see all of the information at a glance than have it spread out around the entire screen.

I like the health cross. A lot of HUDs don't keep that, but I prefer it as I am more a visual person than a number person, so it is nice to have the option.

The colors don't burn my eyes like most do, so that is good. But I have a problem with them being all over the place, uncoordinated, and the blue and purple don't really stand out against the rest of the visuals.

I feel like the numbers should be white, and the green would make a nice overheal color. But that is just my personal preference, and lord knows I am picky with HUDs.

I think you misunderstand me, or I miscommunicated what I meant. Either way, I can see that we think differently on the subject. I have to be mentally engaged with my partner to be interested. If we don't share at least a couple of interests or hobbies, I am not interested. But if that's not for you, that's not for you. I just wanted to put it out there that I think otherwise.

I know people who are in a relationship or married as well, who play MMO's, and they are doing just fine. Dota 2 takes a lot of time, for example, but is fine in moderation. The same idea can be applied to MMO's. I think blaming the genre for poor relationships is like blaming McDonald's for someone being fat.

#175 what's yo inches/360 in Off Topic

Well, think of it this way: I have a 6-inch 360. Some people have 3, some people have 9. Both are ridiculous to me, because that isn't what I am used to, and I see them as extremes on the spectrum. I'll still recommend lower sens closer to mine to people newer than I am, but that's because there's a general false notion that a higher sensitivity will improve your aim by itself, and I want to dissuade that and encourage them to start at a medium and play with things from there.

He was very good, believe it or not. He's just that sort of person, who has a knack for picking things up quickly and efficiently. He learned Soldier and Demo at my request to play for our 6v6 team when it was around, and was probably high open in a comparatively short amount of time.

It isn't that common a thing, sure, but it isn't unreasonable to believe. I met a 13-year-old who had 200 hours logged (I paid for his premium) and who was also probably high open out of the gate with Scout.

kuzaOnce you get a stable job, place of your own and steady GF who lives with you, you will have plenty of time to game as long as you stay the fuck away from MMO's and give her a couple hours of quality time every evening before you head off to your PC. Chicks like to do boring shit like read before bed.... So you'll have plenty of time to complete you fav RPG's and compete in ESEA season after season. You just have to make sure you get your responsibilities taken care of, which is tough if you procrastinate like we all love to do.

MMO's aren't an issue, the issue is people who don't have any self-control or sense of priorities.

I know a guy who is 35 and married. He and his wife generally have different interests, but they still make an effort to include each other in their own hobbies. Dutifully doling out a couple of hours before you play games isn't really the right way to do it, although I guess that's what some people are okay with.
He teaches her gaming from time to time, gets her into games so he can play with her, like Diablo III, Dota 2 and Portal 2. And other times he'll go watch one of her shows with her. imo relationships work a lot better if you find somebody who either shares some of your interests or who is open to trying new things, even if it's just to spend a different kind of quality time with you. I enjoy playing games with my boyfriend and on my own, and I think it would be boring if neither of us made an effort to include each other sometimes in our hobbies.

I upped the price of my avatar commissions. It makes sense because they're taking me longer to do and I could be looking at that Harvard CS course or something instead. But I don't know if people will see +$3 as too much or not. Hnnng.

My boyfriend mained Scout, and was very good at it. Turns out he used a half-inch 360. He only somewhat recently got it to a full inch.
