#6 KaiThePhaux LFT Open Scout in Recruitment (looking for team)

Why all the minus frags? If you have something to say, post it, don't hide behind a button.

Seemed like a pretty nice person and has a pretty good knowledge of the game from the times I filled in for her team. Good luck finding a team.

#487 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization
f_blueServer time limit is not intended to show up in KOTH as far as I know. Doesn't really make sense either. Shouldn't be a problem in 5CP and PL though.

I'm designing a hud that helps me use the server time limit to track uber percentages, similar to how quake players use it to keep track of mega/armor timings.

#480 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

Having trouble getting the server time limit to show in modes that are not CP (koth, pl, plr, etc).

I tried copy+pasting the servertimelimit section in hudobjectivetimepanel.res into hudobjectivekothtimepanel.res but it didn't work properly. Is this even possible?

#7 CEVO Season 6 Announced in News

When will the season start exactly? The website says pre-season is from "Nov 13th - Nov 20th" but registration ends Nov 23rd. Or are these dates TBD?

Didn't play CEVO last season but am interested this season and not sure exactly how this goes.

Yea it looks like a version of Garm3n HUD, which I don't believe is being updated anymore.

#11 What to upgrade? in Hardware

If that's the case then I stand corrected.

I looked at the same benchmarks as you and recognized the difference between the two, however from what the OP was saying, he would like a constant 240+ FPS, and he wasn't getting that at the moment even with the low resolution he's currently using, which led me to believe the roughly 30% better score wouldn't result in his desired state.

If you had the exact hardware he did, then the OP should have the ability to get what he wants.

spammymaidosi have the xeon cpu myself with can stream 1080 60fps just fine.
Is that xeon cpu compatible with my motherboard? Where i can check that?

Check the socket type of your motherboard and compare it with the socket type of the Xeon. If they match, the CPU is compatible with your motherboard.

Honestly though, I'm not sure if spending money now is the right move. Is the slight FPS you gain from upgrading your CPU worth the money? If you think so, you're welcome to try, but I feel building an entirely new system when Windows 10 launches is the safer bet. Your current CPU is not that much far off the Xeon 1230v3 in bechmarks.

On top of this, if you really want to get the most FPS possible, you're going to want to overclock, which means investing in a good CPU fan and perhaps spending a little time learning how to do so without damaging your computer.

#7 s17 frag vid by Rigel! in Videos
Tooniif you're recording stvs, you have to decrease the viewmodel_fov_demo because stvs make the viewmodels larger by like 25 or smth, so you don't get moments like https://i.imgur.com/i6sLMnI.jpg?1

I knew something looked weird about my STV clips. Thanks for the tip.

#2 s17 frag vid by Rigel! in Videos

LOL, thanks rooks.

Comments/criticism appreciated. I'm not sure how much I want to get into editing videos, but I had a lot of fun with this one. It took me the better part of a week to compile and find clips, then edit, I usually only do small clips and vids of my own frags, this was the first project that took more than an evening.

Some things I noticed were the different fonts in some of the credits and some miss-timed slow motion clips. One thing I'd like to get feedback on are the "team clips": did they seem fluid enough that you could tell they were all part of one play? Also, did the ending feel rushed?

Thanks.

#11 Computer Science Major? in Off Topic

I will be graduating with a computer science degree next summer. I switched majors twice before settling with CS. What I love about the degree is it is entirely hands on. If you're someone like me that finds it difficult to get good at something because there is no feedback on how you're doing, or because you have to memorize a bunch of useless information, computer science is the perfect major for you.

If you are terrible at a specific aspect of programming, you will usually know it immediately because errors will come up or it simply won't work the way you had thought about it. It is also flexible. There is no "one way" to do things. You'll be getting a lot of small and large projects that will allow you to work at your own pace. There are also thousands of communities and websites that are available to help you if your teacher isn't. As mentioned by someone else, you could certainly learn programming by yourself, but a teacher + online resources is the perfect combination. CS also encompasses more than programming, and those topics are usually the trickier ones that require more than an online guide.

I also don't see a bad job outlook. Computer science combines a lot of useful principles into a single major, such as critical thinking, logic, managing of resources, and in some sense, art. All of these are incredibly useful, not to mention, we're in the computer age; I think every company will need someone like a CS major if they want to be successful

If you do decide to take computer science classes in high school, don't be discouraged if you have a bad time. I remember taking a class in BASIC and the teacher was incredibly useless and spent more time selling candy to fund her math club field trips than teaching. High schools usually don't have the budget to fill the needs required by a computer science class.

#11 Volume increaser and decreaser bind. in Customization

This script works as it is supposed to, the only problem being that volume is capped at 1.0 as a maximum, as previously mentioned. You can check this by typing "volume" in console. The corresponding output is:

"volume" = "1.000000" ( def. "1.0" ) min. 0.000000 max. 1.000000

You need to make the increments and decrements smaller, say 0.05, to have a greater range of possible volumes. Currently, this only has 3: [0.0, 0.5, 1.0]. Something like the following makes more sense:

bind UPARROW "incrementvar volume 0 1 0.05"
bind DOWNARROW "incrementvar volume 0 1 -0.05"

The only difference between this and Twisted's config (other than being more simple) is that the script above will loop whereas Twisted's will not. If you are at the max value of volume, clicking UPARROW will bring you back to the minimum and vice versa for DOWNARROW.
