mousewheel down = slot2, up = slot1 (to reset lastinv)
any class with alt fire has it set to m2 and then I use mousewheel to switch weapon

Threads load incredibly slowly half the time ATVM

Might be firefox. Sometimes pages load really slow and incomplete in ff for me but it doesn't happen in chrome.

And you can tweak the fov to make it look in such a way that things on this monitor doesn't look squeezed like they would look in a regular monitor with a high fov. See where the advantage is now?
Valve set the fov limits to 75 and 90 for a reason.
You can do that with multiple monitors though.

Sounds like you have mat_viewportscale 0.5 and mat_viewportupscale 0. Changing either to 1 should fix it.
Edit: What are your values for these?
