Important things to note:
- There's going to be city based teams all over the world; essentially franchises like in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.
- There will be a combine where the top players in the ranked ladders will compete against each other
- The format will have a regular season and playoffs
- Blizzard will have complete control of the league
- Blizzard will provide salaries for all players in the league
Other things I noticed:
- No announcement on 3rd party tournaments and international tournaments
- This kinda fucks over a lot of orgs like NRG and C9 that signed teams already
Thoughts?
Edit: Nate Nanzer did an interview with Polygon about the league. Some things I took note of:
As for who those team owners will be, Nanzer said that prospective owners "across both existing esports organizations and traditional sports owners" have been invited to this weekend's BlizzCon event to learn more about Overwatch League.
He also talked about having an open circuit during the offseason of the league:
"An off-season is really important and something that's missing in a lot of esports," said Nanzer. "You have this 12-month calendar, and we've heard from teams and players that an off-season would be a welcome addition. The other thing an off-season allows us to do is to make sure that there's a third-party ecosystem that exists outside of the Overwatch League. While the Overwatch League is the pinnacle of competitive Overwatch, we want to make sure that there's a robust ecosystem outside of that. You can't just build the top of the pyramid. You have to have the whole pyramid, right?"

Lot of cool games they're gonna do. Quake, Mario Paint, Super Smash Bros Melee, Halo 2, Arkham City, Crash Team Racing, Super Mario Galaxy 2 are on the list. Undertale True Pacifist run is going to be the finale for the event.

They fixed the issue
The first time I played TF2 was at a Tech Summer Camp at NYIT in 2013
We learned how to use Hammer, make maps, and we even played some competitive 12v12 matches
Not a lot of people use matchmaking because of the different rules they have (best of 3 rounds, no class limits) so it's not really the 6s we play. We still stick to the old rules for the leagues and stuff.
Also, the elo system is not good (no placement matches) and some people are connecting to servers that are halfway across the world. They are however working on fixing the elo system (http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=23496) and they've been working on putting people on the right servers similar to how the DotA 2 Reborn update made server connections work.

Hot damn it looks really nice
Matthew is also being projected to hit Maryland, Delaware, NJ/NYC, and the South part of New England. Even though it's going to be at it's weakest point when it hits the Northeast, you should definitely prepare if anything goes wrong.
Also, just noticed they're using single elimination bracket for the playoffs. Not sure how I feel about that. I really prefer double elimination bracket for big events like this.

They're on sale now if anyone wants to go. I'm gonna email DreamHack today or tomorrow to see if there's gonna be a TF2 tournament, so we can maybe have an East Coast LAN.
World is starting tomorrow. Gonna be really hype.

I'm also going to be going to the semi-finals in NYC, so I'm really excited to be going to my first ever esports event as a spectator.
Hopefully NA doesn't go 0-10 this year.
