How would you define the point system?

I agree to a certain extent that self-help is the only end to depression, but I took certain amphetamines when I was depressed and it definitely helped out a lot, especially in the earliest stages of treatment.

Of course, I'm talking about prescribed antidepressants, not alcohol. Also, if you're not happy with your shrink find a new one. Many of them are entirely incompetent, but sometimes that one person can salvage the wreck that is your life.
