#12 Really bad cold, does Zinc work in Off Topic

in a new study zinc "showed a 'relatively minor' reduction in the duration of cold symptoms". so yes it works, but only barely
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/07/zinc-cold-symptoms_n_1497827.html

if youre really stuffed up to the point where you cant sleep, then use afrin when it's really bad. it'll clear you up, but if you use it too much it can start to backfire. also Mucinex D is the best at clearing your sinuses out for the day, it's amazing how well it works. you could also get a neti pot or some other nasal rinse so you can flush the mucus out of your face, just make sure to boil the water or use distilled water so you dont get a brain eating amoeba.

#27 a short i thought you guys might like in Off Topic

it's a really interesting narrative coming only from digital conversations, a little cliche in parts but it was cute. it did a good job showing how the internet medium is the cause and coping mechanism for a lot of our anxieties, it's the trade-offs of losing face-to-face interactions

#44 Fat shaming in Off Topic

I read a short story in one of my classes last semester called "The Fat Girl", which I found pretty insightful because I typically judge who I find attractive by weight, even though I know it's superficial and bourgeois I still wont regard overweight women as potential partners. The story's about how people attempt to change her diet and routine in order for her to lose weight and how she copes with it, some of the help comes from a place of love and caring and others from trying to reinforce society's standards of beauty and happiness.

it's a pretty good story and worth the read, it's only 15 pages. it might be a good way to understand how to approach your friend

SocialistFish is the only thing holding Pandamonium back, the fact that he gets kills is nothing short of pure randomness that should not be chalked up to anything but luck. it's a miracle he hasnt been cut yet.

just say it already
