Do you not follow the message board trolls on TFTV? I am the only racist here.
In all seriousness tho, anyones death at such a young age to heart conditions is never a good thing. Athletic drug use and whatever else he has done probably hastened his heart conditions in an attempt to keep fighting.
I've been an MMA follower since close to the beginning of the UFC and I was not happy when Kimbo would headline an event like he did in Strikeforce. During that time MMA, UFC in particular, was still trying to shed the image of "human cock fighting" as some have called it. Early UFC was surely close to barbaric mindless brawling but has since evolved into a true sport with real tactics, fighting styles and organization.
The fact is that Kimbo did more to hurt the image of MMA than he did to help it. His whole persona was based on his internet popularity around brawling. In the end, ticket / PPV sales would allow Kimbo to have a place in the UFC and in MMA but in reality, he was a mindless brawler with little stamina and little ground technique. Many of his fights were embarrassing to watch such as Kimbo vs Houston Alexander or more recently Kimbo vs DADA 5000. At best Kimbo was a knockout puncher who had few (if any) legit knockouts, he was far from a true MMA fighter.
All that said, I am not trying to piss on a mans grave or his legacy because I truly believe anyone who steps in the octagon or ring has courage and lots of fight so for that I have huge respect for the man. RIP Kimbo
