It is a little of both to be honest. Popularity has its perks.
Being friends with the right players and playing as part of their circle jerk in pugs could make you a stronger player over time since you are constantly playing against skilled players.
On the other hand, there are a lot of players who are very overrated simply because they are part of said circle jerk.

delpo was more than ready for invite several seasons ago as a soldier. Not sure if he never had the time or the drive to commit to playing in the division but he would have out performed most soldiers.

Corsair seems to have Reddit enamored with their boards but honestly Razer boards have better caps IMO.
Razer may have better caps but the connection wire is complete shit. My last 2 keyboards have been Razer Blackwidow and both of them failed because of the USB wire connected to the keyboard. In-fact most Razer, keyboards have this crappy design. At least with the Corsair brand, they have a very secure cord that does not fail over time and use.

I have to use compact keyboards for gaming because I hold my keyboard at a strange angle that makes full-size keyboards hang off my desk.
I use this:
Corsair Vengeance -- 100$
another option below is basically the same keyboard but a little cheaper and in Cherry
Corsair Vengeance (Cherry) -- 70$
I have had no trouble at all with this keyboard and it has performed better than any I have had in the past.
