Honestly I'm extremely skeptical that valve will make any good balance changes out of this, even if we did allow every weapon. I think people forget that Valve wanted to buff the reserve shooter in the last major patch, and b4nny had to fight to keep it the same. They don't really know how the game balance works.

obviously you've played against jackster using it in HL
if it's incredibly stupid to counter in HL, a mode with a perma heavy, engie, and sniper, it's easily going to be a much bigger problem in 6's where you hopefully do not have a perma heavy, engie and sniper
