WHat kind of things might cause a short?

Okay so I tried it out of the case with just my motherboard connected to the power, and my cpu and ram in (and cpu connected to power) and nothing.

I assume my case power button is fine and connected ok. But even if not, I can't hear any psu fan noise.

Alright chaps,

So today. my pc just won't turn on.

Haven't installed anything new.
Did the test on my PSU where you put a paperclip in the 24 pin that connects to the motherboard and turn on power, and I could hear the fans and my cd drive whirred too.

However, when I plug in the 24 pin to the motherboard, nothing will happen. There's no light on my motherboard either.
How can I test this further to see why it's not working?

Having taken a lot of connections out, i'm not even sure they're back in the right slots now on the motherboard, as I was trying to see if the power button was broken or some shit.

Would appreciate any help.

So I hated the way my game looked and tried to reinstall the Comanglia mid pcs config ( http://www.teamfortress.tv/25328/comanglia-s-config-fps-guide )

I put
-dxlevel 81 -full -w WIDTH -h HEIGHT -console -novid
in launch options but my game would only take up the centre of the screen with black at either side.

So I took that out and now my game looks better, but for some reason I have the following issues:
- rockets look shit, like the airstrike
- enemies on fire look shit (fully orange, cant even see team)
- can't see medigun beam
- switching weapons brings up what weapon im switching to on the right of the screeen and I have to click once it's selected. I previously had q as slot 2, mw up as slot 1 and mw down as slot 2.

Okay, so fast weapon switch on seems to fix the last one. My viewmodels are now weird though,

Any idea how to fix it?
