#2 No One is looking for a team (scout, low open?) in Recruitment (looking for team)

Nothing wrong with looking for an open team, even if you aren't known at all. Can't hurt to at least give you a tryout. Best of luck!

#3 Stream Chat Toggle in Site Discussion
reillyAll you would end up with is larger black bars on the side I believe, because both Twitch/TFTV maintain the same aspect ratio. The stream wouldn't actually be larger.

Also can you explain why you would want the regular site sidebar on the stream page? It doesn't update without refreshing, and it seems unlikely that someone would refresh a stream page to see the sidebar updated.

Yeah I suppose that's true, but it'd still be a nice option. Maybe I want to check how much longer til an event starts, I can open it in a new tab from the regular site sidebar without having to leave the stream. And even if there are just bigger black bars, it'd be a cleaner look. Just a suggestion, if no one else likes/wants it, no worries.

#1 Stream Chat Toggle in Site Discussion

I like that when I'm watching a stream on Twitch.tv, I can toggle the right hand side where the stream chat is, so that I'm not in full screen mode, but the actual stream viewing window is larger. I think it'd be swell if we could do that on tf.tv while watching a stream. If we could toggle the right hand side that shows chat/other streams, and maybe the left hand side as well so that we can see the sidebars containing the upcoming events/articles/threads, that would be great.

#1 Vanilla lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

So I just moved to Alaska to finish up some school, and now that I'm settled in a bit more, I'd like to see if there are any teams out there in need of a player. Unfortunately, because of my school schedule, I won't be able to scrim more than 3 nights a week, at least until I've settled down here and gotten into the rhythm of school. If you think you won't scrim more than that, or could get a ringer, then hit me up.

I've been around a while, mostly playing soldier, however I'd like to play scout in open. Hit me up for a tryout!

#7 Bad internet net settings in Q/A Help
kuzaif you know how to do a trace route then paste a few here for the servers this is happening on and we'll see if it's your ISP or your routing. There's a chance you're being sent to a line correcting box by your ISP, which ups your ping by 30-40 on one hop.

It's not the routing, it's the fact that I'm living in Alaska now :P

#89 best sniper in TF2 General Discussion
MaxivanillaI think 6s players in general would be easier to snipe, but only until they know there's a sniper on the field. After that, they (the good ones) will dodge much more unpredictably, and will take very good care to avoid the sightlines. The latter especially makes a difference because then the sniper only gets like one or two good opportunities to hit shots, so he REALLY has to make them count, whereas in highlander, you generally can just take shots continuously since there is almost always a target.im really out of my element here and you make a good point but from what ive seen in the recent games is that they are trying to get picks in or out of last where the conditions arent much different than highlander. Also i understand there isnt alot of respect for highlander around here which is why i dont usually post here but you make it sound like people just stand in sightlines waiting to get shot which isnt usually the case

High level highlander players are definitely not idiots, and they don't intentionally walk into sightlines or move super predictably. However, since there are 50% more players running around on the other team on similarly sized maps, it just means that you'll generally have more opportunities. In 6s, there's not only fewer players, but they are positioned much more carefully because even the smallest amount of damage can make a difference in the upcoming fights. So yeah, snipers in both formats are there to get picks during stalemates, but there's always a lot more action going on during stalemates in highlander than in 6s.

Edit: Not to mention that pushing/holding last in 5cp with 6v6 is VERY different than pushing/holding last on payload in 9v9.

#84 best sniper in TF2 General Discussion
MaxiBLoodSireIn my experience, and not to bring on the HL hate, but HL players (unless also 6v6 players) really have no concept of how to dodge to avoid a sniper or are just to involved in other things to take the time to do it, whereas in 6v6 almost all players go into "can't headshot me" mode when they try to attack a sniper. This makes 6's sniping much harder, compounded by the fact that there are less players to shoot at (easy targets like pyros, heavies, and engies) and more of a focus on you when you snipe (since whenever a sniper appears in a 6v6 game the other team usually makes it their modus operandi to kill him). my experience is pretty much exactly the opposite, seasoned highlander players make an effort to not be easy to snipe whereas the invite players in highlander are easier to hit in comparison (mabey they forget theres always a sniper?). ive never played high level 6s, and pretty much all of my experience sniping in 6s is pugs or mixes so i could be wrong here but like i said this is just what ive seen.

the pressure to preform in 6s i imagine to be much higher though because when someone doesnt do well on sniper everyone remembers and when i dont do anything in highlander (90% of the time) nobody notices woohoo

I think 6s players in general would be easier to snipe, but only until they know there's a sniper on the field. After that, they (the good ones) will dodge much more unpredictably, and will take very good care to avoid the sightlines. #3 Bad internet net settings in Q/A Help

My internet doesn't seem like it has a bad connection. So if I have a good connection, but high ping, what should my net settings be?

#1 Bad internet net settings in Q/A Help

I know there are a billion other threads with info on net settings, but I couldn't seem to find any with info on what the ideal ones are to use on high ping. I've used Chris' settings for bad connection from his fps config, but it still seems... off, to me. What values should I use for bad internet (I'm going to have ~100 ping to most servers) for both projectile and for hitscan? Thanks for any help!

This is awesome. I haven't watched the video yet, but if it's anything like the other post-produced content that extv has put out, then I'm super stoked.

Damn well better know who Robert Johnson. The guy sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads at midnight in order to play the blues.
