#1 buying a car, help! in Off Topic

So, yeah, I'm not really content with fixing my current car when it's already at 125,000 miles and I would much rather just buy a newer car at this point.

- I drive about 80 miles a day for work, so I'm looking for something that would last for a long time.

- Looking for great gas mileage.

- Can (and would prefer to) drive a stick.

- Can buy brand new or fairly brand new.

I don't really know much about cars and I definitely don't keep up with what's new or good/bad. I would ask some of my friends, but most of them would probably say "YEAH GET THIS CAR WITH A V8 WITH 12 MILES TO A GALLON."

Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. I'm looking to buy this week.

cuddleI've never been to a LAN & am not an old-school player at all, but everyone at Sacramento LANfest looked like they had so much fun, I'm tempted! Is anyone heading in from the nyc area? And is there a group rate for any hotels around there? The site is a little bit bare bones on info. :o

There are a handful of people coming from NYC, I believe.

I'll try to get more info on the hotel, but I do know that the hotel is in the same lot as the LAN, and it's about a 60-90 second drive to it. Everyone should make an effort to book rooms at this very hotel, because it's close and so everyone can drink with each other. I'll post more info about this when I get it.

A lot of people have been asking me a lot about the details that I'm waiting to announce. However, Rick persuaded me to let out a little bit of info, so here's some of it:

7:18 PM - rick: yo just lemme in on the details bro
7:19 PM - XTS // TheFragile :3 #tresgatos: 1st place gets to have their way with a vulnerable, drunk mason
7:21 PM - rick: lmao wtf

But seriously, we are hoping we can announce a lot of stuff sometime this week.

phAZEJust wondering, what is the total number of tickets available for the lan?

I actually don't know if there is a hard cap, because I think we'll honestly seat as many as we can do. We had about 350 or something like that last year, but I know we are willing and able to do like 500 and possibly even more.

I don't think this will be bigger than the Insomnia LANs, but this will definitely be the biggest NA TF2 tournament ever. So, yeah, everyone come to this. It's gonna be amazing.

thrasherJesus Christ first day of registration and we already have enough PAID players for 7-8 teams. Incredible.

First day of registration and we've already beat our numbers in the past.

Posting what I said earlier for emphasis:

If you definitely plan on coming to the event, then you should buy your ticket this month. I believe ticket prices will go up every couple of months or something like that, so get them while they are cheap! And again, make sure you put down "Team Fortress 2" as the anticipated event.

MemphisVonTheFragileradiumI believe that a buy-in "Captains" tournament could be fun. Last time, there was one that took place late Friday.
Yeah, this is typically a Friday event while the normal TF2 tournament would take place Saturday (for anyone who wondered). We'll try to make this happen, but we'll have to see what's in store.

What time does this thing start and end? I need to know when we should show up and when we are leaving so I can schedule my flight accordingly.

I'll also need to get some new polo's for Oafmeal.

For TF2? I was never really in charge of anything draft-related on Friday night, but I think that started around 9 or 10 PM. The Saturday tournament starts around 10 or 11 AM and typically finishes around 8 PM, but it might be closer to 10 PM or so for this tournament. There isn't too much gaming on Sunday mornings for most LANs, so people pack up around 9 to 11 AM.

radiumThis tournament could very easily go about 7-9 teams deep (and we're talking about quality teams that can do damage).

I'm actually anticipating like 10-12 teams.
