had to pay him prize money at GXL because he was so good. pick him up.
Sean, if you need any help with staff for the event and/or if I could be in one/some of the pro matches/tournaments, that would be cool :].
SetsulDon't buy another RAM stick, you can't use more than 4GB.
You said it showed "4.00 Gb (3.75 usable)" and the screenshot looked like you are using windows XP.
The only version of Windows XP that can use more than 4GB is the "Windows XP Professional x64 Edition" and I haven't seen that on any laptop yet.
EDIT: Checked again is it Windows 7? The harddisk error looks like Win7 with the good old 98 looks.
Nonetheless check if your OS is 64 bit, otherwise you can't use more than 4GB RAM, regardless of how much is installed.
I thought it might have been XP at first, but it looks like he is using Windows 7 from the Windows logos. But yeah, if you're using 32-bit, you can't go past 4 GB.
Yeah, that should work just fine. The only thing you need to scope out for is 200-pin DDR2 SO-DIMM.
Eh, 4 is probably fine. I guess you could go with 8 but keep in mind that laptop RAM is different than desktop RAM (it's smaller in physical size). Typically, there's a panel underneath the laptop that lets you access the RAM easily. Check it out if you're considering upgrading and go from there.
I wouldn't really worry about how Windows utilizes memory on your computer. It does fancy stuff to make sure things are smooth.
lambdaOkay, thanks for the help. I'm looking to upgrade the capacity. So would this also be a viable option?

And about the ram, would adding 2gb be over the top. My computer uses a ton of ram at the moment for simple things like watching twitch, and playing dota. Is that normal, or not?
You posted the same link as the original post. :p
How much RAM do you currently have?

1. You want their league support (stats/match scheduling/pugs/scrim servers/forums/admins/support)
Stats - Could be taken care of with sizzling stats or something similar. It wouldn't be the exact same experience, but I think we could make it work just fine.
Match scheduling - ESEA's match scheduling is absolutely nothing to speak of. It's mediocre. If something unfortunate happens or two teams just can't agree on a day within about four days, then it's either a forfeit or a coin toss. Sick system.
Pugs - Never used.
Scrim servers - Seldom used.
Forums - Never used.
Admins - l0l.
Support - Submit a trouble ticket.
I'm not really pushing to stay with ESEA or to go elsewhere, but making league support a point for trying to convince someone to stay with ESEA is just not that great.
StPatrickThe only real expense for everyone would be travel. We have a long standing member of the community in Nick "TheFragile" Leon who is in charge of the tournaments at the GXL and even said that he would help us out with hosting a lan there. I'm not suggesting that this be the location or the event that we decide on, I'm just pointing out that it is not a far fetched idea or anywhere near as impossible as some people are making it out to be.
Edit: In regards to them supplying computers and monitors to the players who fly out, this is not a rare thing or uncommon at lans. Even the small intel lan in Atlanta has a set up like this for players to play finals on.
The part about supplying tournament computers was the only possible issue. It's definitely doable, but I would need to look at the costs and see what can be done.
The only other possible idea is to try to do this at a LAN center. A bunch of good tournaments have happened this way in games such as Call of Duty, Counterstrike, and Day of Defeat.

StPatrickThere are plenty of lans that would host a tf2 tournament if there was enough interest. If we create our own league we can always just host our own "LAN finals" at a lan that already exists. Buy out the required amount of tickets and make it happen.
I'm 100% positive this can happen as long as we have enough people that care for it to happen and are willing to go through with it. I'm very willing to help out with this process.
I manage the tournaments of the GXL LANs in PA if we wanna come to the east coast. ;0
this guy showed up with his team to the recent GXL LAN, l0l.
and he was one of the winners in the CS:GO gungame tournament!
