#48 BTS TF2 insanity in TF2 General Discussion
yeah but why is alfa banned
and why is nursey allowed to attend

I cannot answer either of these, but to my knowledge the nursey thing was more or less considered a non issue because i dont think peopel actually thought she would show up in the first place.

or at the very least deserved to know that he couldn't attend sooner

Yet again, this is a relatively recent development. Why would people secretly hide this for weeks? Its literally only a negative thing, very obviously.

alfaSandblast confirmed with an admin I can attend as a "coach" to just sit behind them and watch games.

And things have changed since that original message. I dont know the what or the timeline but they have.

And even if that wasn't the case, I would have went as a spectator unless you're implying I'm so impaired I cannot even buy a spectator ticket.

Its a limited event with a small amount of tickets. You being impaired or not has nothing to do with being able to actually get them before they sell out and to try and build that straw-man is very disingenuous.

Dashner isn't involved with the event anymore. As for tickets, that sucks but as already said we didn't give him or his team a guaranteed spot yet and we have not released spectator tickets either so he bought those tickets without anything confirmed.

BeelthazusTSC has always had some ego/social issues, so his stance on all this isn't surprising.

Stance on what exactly? No information has been divulged, so there is nothing to base this claim on.

You made a mistake 2 years ago? Good fucking luck because we won't ever forget or forgive what you've done.

Again, we don't have information regarding the issues, this is useless speculation.

Playing on the same team as people we don't like? Your team has behavior issues and can't come to our b4nny party

To quash this right now, alfa is the only one that is currently banned from the event. The rest of the team is still free to come and is still in contention for an invite. There hasn't been a decision reached on who is invited other than the teams that won the qualifier. The remaining slots are still being decided on.

HuggesMaybe you should've informed him he couldn't attend BEFORE he went through the qualifier? And is there really no way you could even tell him what the problem is in the most broad way possible without outing anyone who's involved.

So just to be clear, only like 3 people (I am not one of them) actually even know what the problem actually is. On top of that this is something that apparantly surfaced after the qualifiers ended. As tsc says, he doesn't take banning people from an event lightly. On top of that due to the community size, even giving a vague outline of the problems would narrow down the people quite drastically, and last time I checked you usually dont want to let the proverbial mob boss know who or what the rat said. Yet again, I dont know the problem or really care to know, but the idea that people should be required to out the leaks is ridiculous, especially if it was something to the point that they are getting banned for it.

#1 NACL 2020 in TF2 General Discussion

Post originally made by tsc on the nacl.gg website. Just cross posting for visibility.

With the North American TF2 community reaching the conclusion of the fall 2020 season, and renewed interest in NACL, I thought it would be best to share an update on where we currently stand.

Background

To recap previous events: it was never our desire to run a full-fledged league for North America, but the events surrounding the end of ESEA TF2 were of great concern to us. Finding the various proposals for successor leagues personally unpalatable in different ways, we chose to launch NACL to provide a viable alternative, and resolved to allow the community to decide which league(s) to play. Although a significant amount of preferential interest was indicated for NACL, the bulk of the community actually committed to another league, and running an NACL season became untenable, so we made the decision to suspend NACL's operations.

New Interest

With the fall season coming to a close, it's clear that various questionable administrative decisions, among other things, have left a vocal portion of the community dissatisfied, and they have called for NACL to resume operations and the community to migrate there.

Conflicts

I previously stated that it would be possible for NACL to run a smaller-scale competition near the end of the year, as well as a full season at the beginning of next year. However, this was prior to the announcement of the #BTSTF2 event. With a large portion of our staff (including all of our directors) involved in the event, it is not possible for us to run anything until after its conclusion, and as a result NACL must remain suspended until at least the end of January 2020.

Future Plans

It remains our intention to provide a league if one is desired by the community. However, with a majority of the community having committed to play other leagues, it is unclear that there is enough demand for NACL, and it does not make sense for us to make all of the necessary preparations for a league season if there is not clear indication that one is likely to happen. In particular, we would need evidence that many players and teams are willing to commit to the league, and not simply expressing interest without the intention of following through.

Timing

If a league season were to happen, careful consideration must be taken as to when it would occur. Given that #BTSTF2 involves 4 top-level North American teams, it is imprudent for a season to begin before, during, or immediately after the event, and thus any season should not begin until the end of February.

With the desires of the community in mind, it would make sense to align our season dates with other events that we have the potential of partnering with. As such, the ideal timing for a season, as far as we can determine at this early point in time, would be for a potential season to begin in mid-to-late March and conclude in June.

However, the main problem with this potential schedule is the significant gap it leaves between league seasons. As such, if we were to consider running a season around this schedule, we may also pursue running shorter events in February, which could be used to test a wide variety of factors that could affect the full season.

Conclusion

I hope this provides a better look at our thought processes and plans for the future of NACL. If you have any questions, feedback, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly to share them. As always, thanks for your support.

Feel free to also post in this thread with any questions or comments you might have.

#4 serious question rgl or nacl in TF2 General Discussion

Just a note, but currently many of the NACL people are involved with putting on the #btstf2 event. Because of this, and the lack of interest we had for the first season we have kinda put the project on the back burner until stuff is more sorted. If people are really interested in getting the league up and running I am sure we can make something work, but we need more than the 3 teams we got last time.

This isn't to say dont push for it, but I am just letting you know where stuff sits currently.

To quote tsc

tsc4:25 PM]tsc:we haven't been advertising given that our first season did not launch successfully and there's a few months until a reboot would even start
[4:26 PM]tsc:also all of our staff are heavily involved in making the #BTSTF2 event happen
[4:26 PM]tsc:NACL is distinctly lower priority than that for obvious reasons

#44 Can you justify why you're not vegan in Off Topic

Fast food is about the same cost (unless you are only living off of the $1 menu) but the problem is time. Fast food is ready to go now and you are able to do other things where as actually cooking and doing all of the prep and cleaning takes a lot more time and this is where the real cost comes from. Making dinner could take an hour or more, going to Mcdicks takes less than 30 min.

FunsCan you justify why you’re not vegan when in the modern day it’s been proven that a plant based diet is sufficient, and animals are bred, mistreated and killed for nothing more than how they taste?

I don't view animals as worthy of moral consideration. This entire line of thought assumes that they are, and if you don't ascribe to that idea the entire argument falls apart.

#101 b4nny doesn't support iseries in TF2 General Discussion
GazrickrigatoniHe tried though, when it didn't take off I think he lost interest. The way I see it is that he lost interest because he couldn't profit from it in any way. Trying in that situation means getting people to give TF2PL a second chance, especially in his position, and not abandoning the project and then also killing PugChamp NA in the process because he told them to fuck off and die. I might be mistaken but the NA pug scene has been in shambles ever since and thats definitely the opposite of keeping the scene alive.

I said it at the time, and I'll say it again now. TF2PL did an absolutely amazing job as a new player aggregator and was (and still is if there was support) one of the best ways for new players to get a feel for the game. It had a massive playerbase at the low end and if banny actually cared about growth he would have jumped all over that instead of only caring about the top 7-10% of players that were unhappy. The project was horribly mismanaged and does an absolutely amazing job at showcasing that banny only cares about what might be good for him, not what's good for the game or community. Because tf2pl was good for the community.

#20 What Genre of Music Do You Play? in Music, Movies, TV

Used to play Concert / Marching and Jazz trombone, but haven't played in like 6+ years due to moving and work. Want to get back into Jazz but I just don't have the time or space to practice anymore.

He says it because he thinks that anyone and anything that doesn't agree with him or his ideas is wrong and they should be ignored and shunned. He doesn't care about the greater community, he only cares about his singular vision.
