#1 Newbie Mixes and the future in TF2 General Discussion

So this is a little hard to write, but after 3 years newbie mixes is in bad shape. For those of you who might not know I have been putting on newbie mixes with he help of people like Kevin, Shdwpuppet, Stochastic and many others over the years, but sadly many of those people are stepping away or have totally stepped away from the game, myself included. So with that said I am looking for some opinions and some help in the matter of keeping newbie mixes alive and running for the future players.

Over the past 3 years we have had close to 3000 people come and check out newbie mixes with the hope of learning how to play the game at a higher level. Many of the current open players and more then a few of the current IM players have came through the mixes, hell even some players that are invite now started with these mixes. These mixes are something that I see as a very important part of our community and our game, it is something that I would like to keep alive for as long as possible even if I step away.

Now what do I need from you? Truthfully I am looking for some people to come in and hopefully take the project onto their backs and move forward with it. As I have said many of the current admin staff are moving away from the game and because of this the mixes are suffering. We haven't had any real mixes in the better part of a month if not more, but I do know that there are still many people that are interested in playing, as I get asked 3 or 4 times a week if they will be on or not. I am specifically looking for some higher level players (top open or IM+) that have good knowledge of the game that would be interested in taking over and keeping the mixes going. If you are interested either add me to talk or post in the thread. On top of that I am also asking for a community effort to get coaches into the mixes. Getting coaches was always a tough thing to do but with people talking about how the game is dead and such, the lower end of players that still wants to play could really use your help and shows that TF2 still has some legs left yet.

I am also just looking for the general feeling from the community regarding mixes. If I cannot find the players to run it, is it something that you think matters any more or will it be ok if it dies out?

As for the people that have talked to me about getting things back (you know who you are) you will hear more about what is going on after ESA.

If they do end up dying I just want to give a shoutout to all of the people that have helped me keep these running over the years.

Big thanks to these guys for helping run everything and a massive thanks to all the coaches that we have gotten as well, what you do helps more then you know.
If I forgot anyone I am sorry but just know that I thank every single person that has helped with these. There is not any other community out there like ours and things like newbie mixes show that in spades.

Edit: What a sad note to get my 4th nerd star on...

#8 Citric LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

I can say from mentoring him and his team last season he is 100% a solid pickup for a low-mid team. Went from a newbie mix player to an actual open player that knows something about the game. He was always asking questions about how to improve his game but not just DM, also his understanding and his game sense at the same time.
Very dedicated and willing to put in the effort that is required to improve.
If there are any teams that need a pocket to lead the team he is one of the better options that you could have.

#31 Faceit news post about matchmaking algorithm in TF2 General Discussion

@22 Really? Faceit games just became balanced less then a week ago. They made an improvement so yay. That doesn't change the fact that the system still has lots of issues like, getting player subs, long queue times, we still have games that are unbalanced and like others have said no way to pre-pick classes. So sorry but no the system is not better then anything else we have, at best it is on par and more realistically it is slightly worse in its current state.

As for prizes and ESEA. You still have to pay a monthly membership to faceit to get any prizes or any rankings in their system so unless you pay its just a slightly worse pug system right now, and even if you do pay you wont get much because of the amount of points it takes. Secondly if i remember correctly it was actually sezco that tried to get ESEA pugs to be a thing, and I actually played those when we tried to get them going. It really was not that bad, it showed what skill level people played in, it was usual ESEA rotation maps and we where already paying for it anyways. You might have done something but you did not say that we should let pugna/tf2mix die to replace it so calling for the services we have now to die is absurd.

Also no where have I ever said that I am ok with only having TFTV do everything for the scene. I actually very much dislike it because it creates large amounts of apathy in the community and it burns people out. I would be happier if we had 2 or 3 solid casting orgs rather then just 1. But we are stuck where we are because the vast majority of the talent in the game has left because they see with writing on the walls.

Finally to anyone who thinks that another pug system will just spring up if faceit does indeed go to shit I have 1 question for you; who will do it? Sure as fuck wont be TSC or erynn with how you have treated them, regardless of if it is valid or not the fact that they haven't told you to fuck off yet and just left is baffling. God knows they have constant shit thrown at them for all the effort they put in, and when all they get back is hate and ridicule it is beyond me how they put up with it. So if its not them doing it will it be you? Do you have the coding knowledge to create and integrate a pug system into automatic servers, hell if need be do you even know how to code a IRC bot that would even work like pug.na? I highly doubt it because if you did you would already be helping.

Truthfully I am fine with faceit, hell I do think they are possibly the best hope there is to keep this game on life support, that being said it is fucking retarded as all hell to tell the rest of the community that we have to throw literally everything we have into this single option, a option that has no guarantee of working, a option that offers nothing that we already don't have, a option that at best will keep the game going for another 2 or 3 years and at worst will kill it right after ESA. Truthfully that might be the best option, the game is dead for all intensive purposes and anyone who says otherwise is delusional and doesn't see the game for what it is.

#20 Faceit news post about matchmaking algorithm in TF2 General Discussion

Holy fuck how out of touch are you LMFAO. You literally just said that anyone that is sub invite doest need to have a balanced game. What the actual shit?? Not to mention of course you have zero issue getting what class you want you are one of the best players in the game. Short of another invite player people will give you want you want. You have ZERO idea what it is like for lower level players or players that are not known in the game, 70% of the time they will be told to fuck off and play the class they are on.

I would also like to remind you that ESEA has a perfectly functioning PUG system that none of us use, they provide actual real would prizes as well not just shitty faceit points. On top of that the ESEA system actually works better then the current faceit one, and many of us are already paying for it anyways. Why are you pushing Faceit so hard when we have had ESEA for so long and yet you have NEVER said anything about it.

Telling the other sites that they literally need to die because faceit is the bestest thing ever really shows how disconnected you are from the actual players of the game. Especially when all the other systems we have (Including ESEA) work better then what faceit currently provides.

Now I am not saying dont use faceit, they seem to be taking good steps but holy fuck why are you throwing so much into just faceit?
