The pocket roll out long existed before the unlock.
You can't compare the crossbow to any other unlock in TF2. If you do, the closest thing you could compare it to is the gunboats. They both increase the pace of the game, and a lot of people like that. At the same time, if you suddenly banned gunboats, I bet a lot more soldiers wouldn't want to play either. The biggest problem though is that gunboats is close to optional, there are soldiers who succeed beyond the unlock. The crossbow doesn't fall into the optional section of unlocks. You're not sacrificing just rocket jumping capabilities. You are sacrificing your team's health, aggression, and momentum. You also get uber % on top of this. I truly believe that how necessary the crossbow is that it's not only bad for competitive, it's bad for TF2 in general. The unlock is necessary in every single setting you play medic in that it's actually ridiculous.
I don't care if it's banned or not as I enjoyed medic before the crossbow existed and will continue doing so. It's really on Valve though, as is most of anything involving unlocks. I would like it if they just buffed the syringes to be as strong as the crossbow.
Does crossbow up the pace of the game? Maybe the logic is the quicker the team is healed the quicker they can fight, where in practice it's the quicker the team gets healed the quicker opportunities for the opponent are shut down.
Now regarding your gunboats statement, who knows if solly mains wouldnt want to play because no gunboats bores them or because without gunboats scouts would be even more dominant...
I think my favorites are a pair of nike skateboarding something, 12 years old, and the rubber sole dried so bad the whole thing is filled with cracks lol
I used to like sneakers as a stylish thing, but then I noticed how fast the glue between sole and main part would die all the time, and how it was impossible to repair them. It makes me sad. Also we all wear off a specific part of the sole faster due to how we walk, and with sneakers, even with shoe goo, these things are fucking hard to repair.
I'd rather spend 2x more for a pair of repairable things nowadays.
It's got to have a maximum range or else kritz pistol across the map would be a problem

regretting the 1950x since i never do anything with 13 of it's 16 cores lol im dumb. i get like 80fps on midfights, better fps on the computers at lan that had an i5 @ 3.2GHz and a 1050Ti :(
i hope you play other games to put that 1080 to use lol, otherwise that might very well be the most expensive tf2 machine i've seen

Why does it sound as if you're trying to defend the class ?
because i'm defending it from being class limited to 0. I agree that it has issues and needs a rework but I do not find them game breaking or worthy of class limit 0.
knsumehow can u say health pools don't matter when it can be the difference between two-shotting or three-shotting a class that can kill you in a second and a half with zero aim required by the player
Because in this case it is not the difference between 1 more or 1 less shot. between 100HP and 200HP you need two almost perfect rockets/meatshots to kill. Fiddling with health between these values just gives more margin for error to the player. Now you can either complain, or hit better shots, or not take the 1v1 if you can avoid it (obviously).
It's true that theres a bit of irony between hitting perfect shots to do X damage, and not aiming at all to do X damage :)
gemm@olgha he's not an ambush class any more, he's literally a walk into you and you die unless you're a scout and you're far enough from him. but even then it's very annoying because of the fire particles. yes you CAN play around a pyro and counter him reasonably effectively at high level but it's very aids to do so, and slows the game down since you have to play a bit further away from chokes
unlocks such as the detonator and scorch shot dont have any real counterplay except playing faster rather than taking the slow fight, but there's times that isn't as viable
Whats the most interesting about these unlocks is that they destroy stickies tho. I see it as a cool way to counter traps, which slow the game down. If opponent team plays far away from chokes, pyro becomes interesting because he makes so much room : he destroys traps and reflects spam (easy to do when opponent is far away), and boom team can engage the fight for (almost) free. If there's a sniper, light him up, and problem is almost solved. How cool is that? More fights!
