#33 1/25/15 New Open teams, how are you doing? in TF2 General Discussion

I feel like picking up some go-to scrim partners around our skill level has been really good for the growth of the team. I urge teams do something similar. If you're high open and you're consistently 5-0'ing the other Open teams in IRC, try playing against IM teams. If you're low open and are getting rolled by other teams, try to find teams in similar situations.

If you're playing teams with a huge skill gap because "no one else in IRC" you either should be more patient or add some other team captains, because you'll improve a lot faster and demo reviews will be a lot more effective if the games are somewhat close.

#7 Toxikk "Frag like it 199" in Off Topic

It's fine to prefer Quake to Unreal Tournament. I don't think it's really fair to be like "haha this game isn't like Quake so it's garbage" when there was never a comparison made by the devs or anyone else to Quake in the first place.

Also the new Reflex patch is still very poor for high pings, but I'm not sure what you consider high ping. I get ~90 and using any gun is a nightmare.

#5 Toxikk "Frag like it 199" in Off Topic

I've been having a lot more fun with it than I've had with Reflex. The movement scheme isn't horrible or jerky, it's just Unreal Tournament with double jump. I haven't touched the game mode that includes vehicles because I'm not into that either.

I have my own personal issues with the game (mainly weapon balance), but if you're comparing current state Toxikk to current state Reflex that's not even a competition. Toxikk runs better than Reflex, the current netcode and hit registration are MILES better than Reflex's current, and the game (while not very original) still has more things that make the game unique than Reflex does.

Don't shit all over a game you haven't touched lol

Anyways, I played it for 2 hours last night and I can give a more detailed review of the game if anyone cares enough. A short answer would be that it has a 4v4 TDM mode that plays out pretty much exactly like the first Unreal Tournament. It's a super basic run and gun, if there's going to be any complexity to the game it's going to be use of weapons because there isn't really any advanced movement. At current state, rockets shit on everyone in every situation though.

#84 Toxikk - arena shooter trailer in Other Games

probably not but i don't see how that changes that 100 dmg rockets that fire at lightspeed are a lot stronger than any of the other weapons

rockets fire at hitscan speed, can one shot players, and have a good amount of splash and picking up weapons (including rockets) have no spawn time so there's no like "harder to get" weapons on the map

if they change how weapon spawns work or weapon locations or nerf rockets significantly this game would be 10x better. still fun overall

#26 ESEA-O S18 Ranks and Predictions: Episode 2 "An Evolving Process" in News

idk if i really agree with ur assessment of our match because we won most the mids and whiffed like every last push and uber transition so i'm not sure how that equates to getting heavily out dm'ed

they outplayed us though and trip is going to be a scary good pocket if this is his first ever pocket match. ggs to them

#4 Evolve Closed Beta in Other Games

Did they change much from the alpha? The alpha was pretty fun for a while but it started to get kind of repetitive.

It's also a 23 gig beta

#8 Albion in Other Games

It looks really cool but I'm worried that since the game is being made available for Android/iOS it's going to have incredibly simple mechanics.
