Hello friends,
I'm not sure how you start one of these so...
Charity stream, this Friday from 20:00GMT - 20:00GMT Saturday in aid of YoungMinds.org.uk.
Why am I doing this I hear you ask? Because fuck off am I going for a run...
STORY TIME
So basically, over the past 2-4 years or so I've been having some real issues with my mental wellbeing, I'm in a better position now than what I was a few years ago, but far away from back to normal.
Anyway, my younger brother is going through the same issues, luckily for me my allowed me to have several months of sick pay, covered for a therapist whilst I was waiting for one through the NHS and for the most part have tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. And that's just because I'm an adult, for my younger brother though it's been vastly different...
- So far my parents have been threatened to be prosecuted because they won't let him go to school (he is majorly housebound at the moment)
- It took 9 months for him to see any sort of therapist
- Doctors will only increase his medication, which in some ways does help but the side effects can make things more difficult
- From the age of 14 he's been out of school
- His school only now just started to provide him with a tutor a few months ago
And that's just a very small list of the issues, for me it's easier to deal with as I was allowed time off to recuperate during an incredibly difficult time, for my younger brother he hasn't been given that time. It started to get to the point where he wouldn't go to the toilet as he was too afraid he was going to die, he wouldn't eat, sleep and was basically wasting away. I remember my mum crying over the phone to me asking me what she should do as she's really struggling. Naturally as well the parents do suffer because someone has to be in the house to care for him.
So after this I wanted to do what I can to prevent others from going through this, my brother is a little bit better but his foreseeable future isn't looking good, and this is mainly down to the way he was handled at such a young age.
Your money will go towards helping kids like my younger brother get the support that they need when they need it the most, mental health support for kids in the UK is incredibly bad, so they need as much help as they can get.
But WARHURYEAH professional gamer, how do I give them my money?
Well, you can do so through their website directly http://www.youngminds.org.uk/ but for the purpose of this charity stream I will recieve said money and send it to them (this is the same setup that I did last year, they don't accept paypal payments and I cover any fees).
Last year we raised £1151 so this year I'd like to hopefully raise £1500.
If I somehow raise £5000 I will get a tattoo 100%.
Anyway, throughout this 24 hour period there will be various games to be played, viewer lobbies, csgo (see how quickly I derank from global), old school games like cs 1.6, dod, css, decent 2, Rocket League etc. You get the idea, video games.
FAQ:
Can I donate in keys? YES THANKS TO GEEL WE CAN NOW TAKE KEYS
Will there be prizes? Possibly some stuff in my TF2 inventory, keys from above if it's possible. There MIGHT be a chance that I can finally raffle off my TF2 BLU hat that is signed from all the top teams that went to i55.
Will you steal my money? No, there's also a lot of people that know where I live and I'm an incredibly fragile person that's easy to intimidate.
tl;dr Helping kids, give money.
