I've seem some good reviews for this, though I'm by no means an expert on the topic.

I would imagine that if social security wasn't considered an essential, none of this would be happening.
All they did to shadows is orient them in more of a 12 o'clock way so they have a smaller chance of clipping through walls. Only applies to granary.

I always feel as though adding someone without a decent reason would be odd, so there are plenty of people who I consider friends who I don't have added, and it's been long enough that if I add them now it would be awkward.
If 9v9 was tried with class limits of 2 and an ESEA whitelist, I think that that would yield some interesting results, supposing some necessary measures were taken (Still only one medic, maybe one demo as well).
Coming from yet another 6s player who hasn't really done anything of note:
Highlander has no logical basis. At some point or another, someone said that we should have one of each class, which for obvious reasons seems reasonable. 6v6 was based off of people playing with different numbers of people (7v7 was a thing for a while, not sure about 5v5 though) until a decent equilibrium between class balance, the ability of one person to carry/ruin a game, etc. was found.
If TF2 didn't have the class-centric gameplay that it does, this could easily be reasonable, but when classes are considered, it just gets silly. Highlander has always(?) restricted all classes to 1, meaning that no class-based strategies are possible (unforeseen spy/sniper plays, switching to a defensive setup on last, etc). This also emphasizes the importance of the classes that have higher DPM (Heavy, demo) or higher health (Heavy) due to being so much more important than the rest of the team (barre medic). Contrasted to 6s, where the only restrictions of that level are on demo and medic, which are arguably necessary to have some sort of variety in the game.
The completely unavoidable problem with HL is that there are more people. More people = more damage output = more deaths + more frags. This means that at any point in time, a single person getting a 3k is less important than it is in 6v6, or, conversely, that the death of 3 people means significantly less. This allows for generally more sloppiness, as well as slower gameplay, and ultimately less effect that an individual can have on the outcome of the game.
tl;dr not enough basis for it to exist, too many people
Ammomod is better if you want to practice the ability to put out consistent damage at midrange.
MGE (Or ammomod on non-flat maps) is better for practicing harder shots where the difficulty is more in hitting each shot than getting the most damage out of each shot.
Ammomod is better if you want to grind something to the point where your fingers fall off, but I would say that MGE is better as a warmup due to involving more different skills.
Is there any specific reason that I can't use my Paypal balance to pay for it? The only option is to go directly from my bank account, which I would rather avoid.
Well, actually, if you have a high-end CRT you can get a similar look via stupidly high aspect ratio. You would need a custom HUD with wide fonts to make anything readable, and unless you changed it back and forth, re-centering it each time, you would hardly be able to use it as a second monitor.
probably could have done better if i went slower
I like the style, but I feel that there is an inverse relationship between the amount of slow-motion and quality.
The DA and g400 are probably the best mice you can get, but they have tend to have bad build quality and stop working after a few months. if you want to take your bet with one of them, I would go with a g400. The Zowie mice seem to be the best if you're willing to pay ~$60 for one.
In terms of keyboards, it depends on what kind of switch you want. It may seem trivial, but take some time to look at the various types and find the one you prefer.
