#33 DDoS for TF2: How should we handle it? in TF2 General Discussion

Unfortunately there is no known way to easily stop DDoS, it's a problem that's being researched intensively by computer science majors and it's something that affects not only our league but a lot of companies along the globe.

I actually doubt that companies that assure to prevent DDoS attacks and charge a huge amount of money for their solutions can actually ensure to stop DDoS's effectively and even if ESEA were to apply some DDoS protection system it would probably make the league fees skyrocket since none of this companies offer a cheap solution.

So far, and until someone develops a good open source system to stop DDoS attacks, it's up to each one of us to ensure that our IPs are secured so that we don't get DDoSed. For which I suggest the following:

- Beware of IRC clients giving away your IP when auto connecting to a network.
- Beware of Skype giving away your IP when directly calling a peer.
- Ban bape from everything everywhere.
- Do not under any circumstance play in a server owned by bape.

Just a few simple steps that will help you go through open playoffs a bit more safely.

So cheesymacgyver, my scout partner extraordinaire, convinced me to make a frag video with his vast amount of pov demos, and after I finished the video he decided to leave and go carry some other team, COOL MOVE YOU BITCH. jk, thanks for letting me ride your back for so long.

The video includes clips from matches, scrims and pugscrims and I actually had more fun making it than I thought so I might do some more videos in the future. That's why I'd like to hear some critiques and advices, what could've been done better and such. I know some clips might look very shaky and kind of bugged, but that's just cheesy's APM, and you can see better the details in the 60 fps version.

So I look forward for those comments and please, someone get this kid to invite soon.

#92 Are you proud of being a (competitive) gamer? in Off Topic

As much as games might be seen as just games by people who don't understand them like your parents or whoever (people who btw 10 years ago struggled with learning how to use a mouse), playing eSports involves every aspect of every other competitive sport out there, it requires skill, practice, teamwork, passion and everything that makes watching a rl sport exciting.

As we've seen, eSports have been growing steadily during the years and they can only continue to do so, so there is no real reason why they won't be considered as serious sports in the future. The only thing it takes is people that care about the eSport, and we've seen that just in our small tftv community we care enough to raise over 60k usd in roughly a year just for the love of the game (i46, ToTH, i49 and ghos7ayama), money that could've well been spent in stuff that sponsors could've sold us through advertising and whatnot.

The more eSports grows, the more sponsors will want to get their products shown in eSports events, specially since they can precisely track the success of their advertising in this digital environment. The more sponsors the game get, the more money gets involved in prices and merchandising. And the more money the game get, the more serious is the competition.

There's a lot more reasons why I think eSports will be the hot shit in some years, but I hope I've made my point. So if right now it's awkward to explain to someone why you scream to your computer screen every night, in a few years it would only make sense to someone when you tell him in your free time you play games competitively. We might even call ourselves Olympic athletes someday HEH

Personally I do tell people I play tf2 when they ask me what I'm into or what do I spend my time on. I get different reactions from different people, and more likely than not it can get really awkward to explain how and why you do it, but hey, they asked, and I'm into it.

#2 StaleWaffle lft demo in Recruitment (looking for team)

If Donde made a good record last season it was in a big part because of the stalewaffle carry (along with the cheesymacgyver carry). Definitely high open if not IM.
Can call focuses perfectly, calls damage done and has a cool deep voice.

#100 HRG roster in TF2 General Discussion
PlatinumI'm sure from a spectator point of view this makes sense, but as a player, the subtle things banny does are what sets him apart. I dont care who is replacing him as demo, it will be a downgrade.

w... was that platinum giving a compliment to b4nny?

or did I read something wrong

#31 Having fun with Yanks 2k13. in TF2 General Discussion

oh come on guys, after i46 we laughed and made fun of all of europe, and now this is immature?

just some things that come to mind are PYYYOUR posting "Could've meet at Chicago or something, see you at the grand finals LG" after they beat LG down to lower brackets, Platinum apparently saying that euros were fucking shit according to Darn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIp8Yzfgk3A), and this little badge description http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=167812706&searchtext=

this is just part of the humiliation kills that comes after every round end, I'm sure lansky will get over it.
