#38 ESEA S16 - half of the season in TF2 General Discussion
ESEA-ShooterI would much prefer to fix the issues (as we do right now), than take the matches elsewhere. I doubt it takes hours, after hours to change a server on ESEA.

Point I was making is we shouldn't have to change servers on esea period, let alone multiple times. If we HAVE to it should be to the same location which we couldn't due to routing issues and server crashing. Changing the server doesn't take a long time but it resets that half hour startup time each team gets before the server changes. Sometimes it does take hours when you need multiple server changes and if you don't believe me it has been streamed before. Mix that in with the client not working randomly for some people and it can be atrocious.

Maybe make an ESEA section called "Client for Dummies" that lists obvious things one shouldn't do while using the client. Most people still don't know you want to let the client open TF2 up for you as opposed to already having it open, then opening the client afterward.

Still dodging the compensation though! How about this. If there are server issues going on, why not put in a rule that allows us to run our own servers using the ESEA configs of course as long as both teams agree. Then we can just forward the scores to admins to input manually into the website. This would save your admins from being bombarded on bad nights and allow us to get our games done without having to wait hours upon hours to get a 10 minute match done with. Didn't even mention the client issues. It either goes really well or really horrible. There should be alternatives.

ESEA-ShooterblinKMy biggest grief is that we're PAYING for a service that isn't being delivered to the extent it should be. If two paid teams pay to play on a Dallas server they should be able to, otherwise reimburse them or give them a free month. Several matches this season (3-4) we've had to switch servers to Virginia or NYC due to routing or servers crashing due to bad coding. Now we know it's not done intentionally or your fault exactly, however as a paying customer we should be reimbursed due to the lack of service being provided. Sure, you guys switch the servers for us but we're still spending an extra hour of our time to wait for everything to be reconfigured just so we can play. So an 11:00 match scheduled days in advance ends up being a 12:30 match due to bad service. We understand stuff happens but you should do right by your customers who have stuck with ESEA throughout it all and send something our way. Coupons, free months, whatever.

Summarize:
1) Servers crashing
2) Bad routing for a lot of people with mixed isp's
3) Not many people use VA/NYC so you should get more Illinois servers for use
4) Time wasted due to having to deal with above issues

Killing is a really good admin and does his best to keep everything together but he's only one man and he needs help. I know that tri was recently added as an admin but he's far from where Killing is. Tri really needs to be brought up to speed so he can be as useful as Killing is when crunch time hits. They're both timely but tri simply doesn't know how to do half the stuff Killing does from my experiences with him.

Also medic stats would be nice since they're implemented in pretty much every other tf2 stat recorder now. SizzlingStats would be a good place to start.

Thanks for reaching out to us Shooter. Happy Easter!

I've seen your ticket about the servers crashing, that's resolved. The bad routing, I've said countless of times, open a game server routing ticket, and include the details asked, sometime ESEA can fix it. Noted the Illinois idea. Pretty sure it doesn't happen THAT often that you need to switch servers, but I'll look into that.

David's still learning how things are done, and what to do in different situations, but keep in mind that Joey has about ~5 years of experience, David only joined ESEA 3 months. He does a very good job, nonetheless.

I understand it all gets resolved - in time - but it doesn't change the fact that the services weren't being properly delivered to paying customers when it was supposed too. So we, as the consumer, get what in return for having to deal with the issues that weren't quickly fixed (As I stated we switched locations 3 maybe 4 times). Everything was addressed except for the compensation factor for the individuals who stick by the league even while cevo is trying to push through. I think a little empathy goes a long way and some free premium codes, something to that effect, would be a nice gesture to maintain your player base (and more importantly, get the ones back that switched over to cevo). I thought we were turning over a new leaf. Trust and treating your customers like family is the best way to run a business. If you were a pizza guy, and said the delivery would come in 20 mins, and it takes 1 1/2 hours, would you compensate the customer in some way who waited forever for their food? I think so. Otherwise you'd more than likely lose the customer (SEE:CEVO). I commend you for your efforts in getting everything straightened out and I also want to thank you for listening to us Shooter.

There are also a lot of solo casters doing their thing, perhaps ESEA should look into covering more crucial matches in each division. Twitch John says the TF2 base is constantly growing in every category. If you're looking to profit more off of the game to provide a better service this is one area where you could definitely improve the overall income of the game if done the correct way.

I'd also like to say one final thing. Combining the main/im divisions was a great move and it's paying off. Not too many teams died early and the competition is pretty good amongst the top 10 teams. It was definitely a better alternative than cancelling the league altogether. So congrats on that success. The competition in ESEA is still far superior than CEVO which is also a good thing that you should work off of. That's what keeps me coming back at least.

Even if KD has better numbers offensively than Lebron, he's still not a better overall player. Lebron is so dynamic on both sides of the court it's simply disgusting. He changes the game in so many ways defensively, offensively, passing, creating plays. KD is amazing as well. But as long as Lebron stays healthy he should continue being the MVP. He's equal or better in every category as KD and i'm a Knicks fan saying this. LBJ is just a monster who is a little less selfish. KD had that freakish run largely in part because Westbrook was injured. I think until the Thunder can take out the Heat, LBJ should remain the MVP. If Wade/Bosh went down for an extended period of time and Lebron had to take another 10 shots a night his ppg would go way up because of that. And that's not even the style he wants to play as he likes being a facilitator of the ball and getting the entire team involved to keep the confidence level up. Man knows how to win. Even back on the shitty Cavalier teams. KD took like 300 more fga than him and has a lower fg%.

Harbleu or shade medic, Platinum pocket, b4nny demo, blaze/seagull roam, clockwork & the real ruwin or enigma to scout = best lineup we could provide imo. idk how well plat and bannys calls would effect one another they'd have to work on it.

yea yea yea always forget the full story. i call esea owners a buncha jews (fact, not racist), 100 people jump on me and i defend myself then get banned for making people look foolish. what's new. now we have a team named "the jews" obviously poking fun at jewish people with a tag that says rabbi and nothing? i don't get it. nothing against the jews. i love the jews (the team). it's just funny how hypocritical some people are. mangachu get off my nuts please thanks <3

mana i agree somewhat when i do get out of hand. although i will disagree with you a lot of the time BECAUSE i'm provoked first if you read from the beginning, and then banned for my responses to the provoking. it should be the other way around.

anyways good chat, cu boys tonight! go quantum fartz! go yankees! thanks for casting!

entertainment at its finest.

I would like to point out that I got banned for saying the word "jew" and now we're playing a team called "the jews" with the tags as rabbi and they're not being ridiculed one bit. Damn bandwagoner hypocrites.

Anyways, gl tonight lets have fun!
