The best thing to do when a problem arise is to do something and "now"! Don't let the situation deteriorate... It's fairly easy to use the "!admin" command on IRC. Most of the time we can save it by acting quickly. I would say that 90% of the time (if not more) things will go bad but the issue won't get reported at all. This is way too common in PUGs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect
Regarding the idea of a specific channel for middle players... I am not sure if there would be enough competitive players to have a channel dedicated to middle players. Plus, there's a "!surf" command, barely anybody is using it, that thing is for those players who feel unchallenged by normal games, just skip the lower games and wait for the captain games. There's no need for a second channel in my opinion, let alone a third...
I am working towards improving the system but at the same time I have major issues with Gamesurge. Things aren't going the way I want and it's hurting the progression of the whole project... My goal has always been to build a system that was easier to use and also easier to manage, right now we do not enforce the authentication of users since it's a complicated process. I can't even get back online the "beta" project of atf2.org... Also, it's summer time. Some of you might have more free time but I don't.
Boogaloo, if you wanna help you are more than welcome. We lack admins and it's a known issue. The most active admin is eulogy_, he's almost the only one doing anything. I don't mind sharing this screenshot so you guys will see how much he's doing compared to anybody else. The thing is, it's very hard to get good and active admins. I know that for a fact since I've been running PUG systems for more 3 years now.
Regarding the !add roamer / pocket thing... I want to do it (you can even see it at the bottom of the screenshot), I just didn't have the time to do it yet. I will try to do it once I get some free time.
You can search with keywords too, here's the games you have played (I've put your Steam ID in the search box): http://stats.atf2.org/?search=0%3A0%3A43348443
Interesting stuff.
Bubbais there an ETA for this to be fixed?
No ETA at the moment, I am trying to solve that issue as soon as possible though.
This issue is related to the ATF2.org service, use a different IRC system until it has been fixed.

ChanServ, AuthServ, and a few other services are down while our server gets an upgrade. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause as we try to make these changes as quickly as possible.

Yes I will put SizzlingStats back on the server, I can't tell why they are broken but I will fix it. It should get fixed soon.
The client is victim of its popularity, I will try to fix that issue but I cannot guarantee anything regarding the delay. At least it should work an hour after the G-Line happened.
If you have a phone then write your program for your phone! Pick up a book on Amazon that has a good rating. Start reading and once you feel ready you can begin with any program you feel comfortable to write. The key to success is to start simple. Test until everything seems to work, then implement newer small improvements.
