#43 private music trackers in Music, Movies, TV
glassdailyglassanyway, i noticed someone linked directly to myanon up there. don't do that for any illegal tracker. insert a <dot> or something at least. thanks.
I can't tell, but I hope you're joking.
this has been a convention in the scene for the 15 years i have been a part of it.

Well first of all, MyAnonamouse isn't an "illegal tracker". I don't know what scene you're talking about, but private trackers are linked directly to all the time. The only kind of known rule I can think of is that some trackers would rather not be named fully in public, and MAM is not one of them.

QuibinaryWhat argument? "that's just wrong, and provably so." Isn't an argument, it's you saying I'm wrong and that that there is evidence of that somewhere in the universe.

There is evidence of it, specifically on RED and Waffles and Apollo, but I begin to wonder if you even have accounts there. Surely you would to make a claim like that.

You certainly don't know the required ratio rules on What, or Waffles, or RED, or Apollo. Not only is this provable, you've done it for me. You still haven't shown that you have any idea, especially by saying:

Quibinaryyou're basically fucked as it's nearly impossible to get your ratio to 0.0 or higher again

I'm going to assume you meant 1.0 because I have two brain cells and could tell what you probably meant. You don't need to keep a 1.0 ratio, ever. No matter what, it's not a requirement.

QuibinaryPedantics, they all mean essentially the same thing.

Deleted implies you could never get the account back. Like someone else said, you're more likely to lose your leech/upload privileges anyway. Only severely messing up could land you a disable for ratio reasons.

QuibinaryObviously you weren't a member of What.CD for very long, yet you try and school me on their rules.

I don't know how long you were on What, but I don't ever remember any drama of the staff using donations to pay for seedboxes. Looking it up, I see that it happened, but I don't know what that has to do with me knowing the rules and you not.

Quibinary"have stuff you can only find elsewhere" contradicts itself and isn't what I said.

Jesus you're not playing this dumb are you? Obviously I made a typo. You couldn't figure out what was obviously meant? Refute the actual argument please. You're just being funny at this point.

QuibinaryI don't remember saying it wasn't a good thing. I don't know why you're trying to teach me about torrents.

I'm teaching you about private trackers, which you obviously don't know very much about. You certainly don't know the required ratio rules on What, or Waffles, or RED, or Apollo.

QuibinaryWhat.CD most certainly banned you for not keeping a good ratio.

You said deleted, not "banned". Disabled is the right word anyway.

QuibinaryWhy else would their staff use donations to pay for seedboxes? Apart from e-peen.

I don't even know what you're trying to say here. You're going to have to explain. Are you saying that What staff used donations to pay for personal seedboxes? If so, I was never aware of it. Pretty shitty thing to do, but I don't see what that has to do with "e-peen".

QuibinaryI don't know what you mean by quality control considering trackers don't control the quality of torrents uploaded, but your point on metadata is dumb because almost all music files shared on the internet are properly tagged and if they aren't you can do it yourself.

I can't think of one music tracker without quality standards and a way to report torrents if they don't meet those standards.

QuibinaryI don't remember claiming that. I don't even know what that means.

..

QuibinaryWhat.CD was the only private tracker that had music you couldn't find elsewhereQuibinaryRatio is the one of the primary reasons private trackers exist, to get people to seed.

Yeah, it's called retention. It's what makes it so that torrents uploaded ten years ago still exist today, without being pruned for inactivity/lack of seeders. It's a good thing.

QuibinaryAnd if you download tons of music without worrying about ratio you're basically fucked as it's nearly impossible to get your ratio to 0.0 or higher again fast enough not to get your account deleted.

It's like you've never even had an account on What/RED/Apollo. Outstanding. Read what a "required ratio" is. Your account on those sites never gets deleted for any reason, by the way.

QuibinaryThe record you posted is on soulseek and if you look it up with zip at the end you can find it easily in 320kb/s. It's also on a couple public trackers
Private trackers are all elitist circlejerks and unless there's freeleech you have to seed new releases for any chance to keep a decent ratio.
What.CD was the only private tracker that had music you couldn't find elsewhere but I'm sure you know what happened to that.

I feel like you misunderstand the concept and reasoning behind a private tracker like What. It isn't to keep people from accessing music, it's to ensure that the collection of music it has is quality controlled, along with the metadata that accompanies it. As for your claim that new music trackers have stuff you can only find elsewhere, that's just wrong, and provably so. Also, ratio isn't really a concern. You can download tons of music before a required ratio even becomes a thing.

SpaceGhostsCoffeeI miss the easy days when you could just use the google trick and look for anything that was uploaded to mediafire, pretty much anything you could search would be on there
good times

Google can still be used to find music, you just have to be a little more cautious about the sites you visit, and be willing to not know the quality or source of the files before you download them most of the time.

i.e. intitle:"index of" "Daft Punk" mp3

Interviewing for RED is your best bet. Apollo is nice, but doesn't have as much in terms of quantity and isn't going to get you into higher level trackers like RED will.

If the interview isn't an option for some reason, getting into something like MyAnonamouse (books, magazines, sheet music, etc) is much noob-friendlier, and is a nice gateway tracker for getting into others easily.

Rebite played with our team as a tryout, and we loved him. Confident comms, doesn't tilt, and is extremely easy to get along with. Try him out, you'll be happy.

#37 Ban the crossbow in TF2 General Discussion
JDuffMake crossbows healing ramp up over time less, making it for more of a medium ranged heal than the "long range hit someone while they are taking a 1v1 and heal them for 100+ so they win" weapon it is.

Yeah, we'll get right on that. Can't believe we didn't just think of changing the weapon before. Crazy.

Mojo is extremely easy to get along with. He also showed he was more than capable of playing medic for a high open team. I have no doubt with a good team, he will continue to improve.

#255 can we ban most unlocks yet? in Q/A Help

I don't have much say in this grand scheme of things, but I don't understand something.

How is removing crossbow a nerf to soldiers? It certaintly isn't one to roamers. Many people have pointed it out, but bombing is currently just hoping you get some kind of pick. At least without crossbow, even though you die, your bomb had some kind of effect on the game, even if you don't manage to kill someone.
