#1 Ontario ISPs in Off Topic

I know the chances might be slim but..

Does anyone know of any good ISPs that provide a decent upload speed in the Kitchener-Waterloo area? Currently with Execulink (DSL), which is supposed to be 6down/1up. I generally 2-4down, and 0.2-0.6 up.

I've spent a lot of time looking around, so hopefully there is something I've missed. Teksavvy only offers 1up here. Rogers has the speed, but the bandwidth caps are retarded. My family uses 200GB+ of bandwidth each month (which is likely the cause of my frequent shitter-than-usual speeds).

Anyone from around here ever found anything, or is it simply not possible to get good internet here?

edit:had some ups and downs backwards woops

#17 Quiting smoking and video games in TF2 General Discussion

What Oafmeal said about keep busy really helped me too. I found, and still find that I break into bad habits when I'm bored. If I'm sitting at home doing nothing other than browsing the internet with no objective, that's when bad habits tends to arise. If you've been meaning to learn something, do it. If you have stuff that needs done, do it. I think being bored is often the final wall before breaking down.

@killemdeader, I don't see any reason meditation wouldn't benefit anyone. There is a lot of science behind meditation recently, not just religious background. We are all humans, if it benefits one person, it should help everyone the same way.

As far as enjoying them, I've been meditating for over a year and can't exactly say I enjoy doing it very often, it's the benefits afterwards that are great.

Again though, it's just an option he can try, not trying to press it on anyone.

#3 Quiting smoking and video games in TF2 General Discussion

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion on a video game forum, but in general your mood will be better the less you use electronics, including video games. Don't use games as a form of escapism. I don't know if you exercise but that will help.

Try talking walks outside, and DON'T pull out your phone to check it, don't listen to music, etc.

Try meditating ~15 minutes a day (I'd recommend this to anyone, not just you, but it's more long term).

All that will help a lot with mood swings, and attention. I've used these to help me get over addictions, but I've never smoked, so take it with a grain of salt I suppose.

#9 ESEA Premium Fees in TF2 General Discussion

Took about an hour for my friend, but the email they send you says a couple days. Another teammate had the same problem as you. He could pay his league fees with Paypal + Prepaid card but had to use Google Wallet to pay his Premium. It was weird.

FzeroDon't you have a bank account, checking or savings, either one would work for paypal? Also those prepaid cards are such a scam people should not be using them. So many hidden fees

There is an activation fee when you buy it, which is like $7 for a $150 card, not even a problem. That's the only fee I've ever seen.
They are also incredibly useful for people who don't have credit cards, and as gifts.

TwitchTVJohnDon't listen to the folks telling you to upgrade to a 3570k.TwitchTVJohnI'd recommend getting yourself at least an i5 3570k and grabbing yourself one of the $119 gigabyte motherboards for socket 1155.

TurinOne loss is enough to get Pyyyour, zBryan, Justin, Seagull so mad that they blame Lange and Seanbud despite there being other just as major weaknesses? One loss in the first week is unacceptable?

I'm pretty sure they'd be talking about performances in scrims at this point, not matches.

disengagereillyMagicka hardly even runs on Windows 7 man. Good luck.Whats up with that? I played it before on 7 but I tried recently and it runs like shit

Even when it came out it was pretty bad. I don't know what they've done to it now, but I can't even start a co-op game anymore. :(

Like browny said though, it's gonna be pretty bad quality. I have 0.4 upload, and can only do about 120 bitrate without it raising my ping. You could try ~250 and see how it is. Again though, it will probably be bad quality.

Why would you do it that way?

Just start low and work your way up, rather than starting high and working your way down.

#7 Overclocking in Hardware

#3 Yeah, my FX goes to 62 max, but I've read older AMD's do mid 70s.

#4 I just looked it up a bit, and from what I'm reading you'll max out at 72-75ish. Hence why I told you to check what it should be. The max temp is different for every processor, not the same for every single Intel chip.

Still, that should definitely give you some room to overclock. If you are just playing TF2, keep in mind that (at least for me) TF2 will run about 10 degrees cooler than p95.
