#111 The Future Of Competitive Team Fortress 2 in TF2 General Discussion
SaucerorA lot of pubbers move into lobbies, and just stop there. I know guys with 500+ lobbies who never played a match of UGC or ETF2L. Maybe if tf2lobby made people aware of UGC, they'd move into it. I played in lobbies for ages, and after a couple seasons of ETF2L (even low div.) I found lobbies so much less fun. Now, after starting 6s I find HL less fun. But lobbies are a genuinely decent way of getting into competitive, but surprisingly few people actually make the step past lobbies.

I wanted to get into comp tf2 for a long time (got really mad playing pubs all the time since it made me want to tear my hair out). Then I heard about tf2lobby from a friend. Some guy making a team made a cheesy "recruitment" lobby and I joined it. Basically long story short that's how I started playing ugc, noticed hl was a shit format, then moved onto 6s. If tf2lobby advertised ugc/etf2l/esea/cevo/whatever more players would join teams or atleast be aware that leagues for this game are a thing.

#27 What do you like in a map? in Map Discussion
ClankPut in some water jumps.

Water maps and maps with water are pretty much horrible.

I also hate it when maps are huge beyond proportion (freight, yukon, well, foundry to name a few). If you're gonna make a map just don't make a big one or I'm gonna cry.

#52 Competitive TF2 Guide to Everything in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyIf you scroll down, you'll realize I have written an okay amount thus far. The help that I need is for a list of MGE and DM servers that are not listed in this document. I also need help with what I should write next in the document/guide. It needs to make sense, it needs to belong where it will be.

Should also include the ips to .iT's jump and surf servers. I know the jujump server helped me out a lot when I first started playing soldier competitively.

#3 Casting critique request. in Q/A Help

"faggot strategy" @15:00. Should never say things like that if you're looking to become a serious professional caster. Ever.

Also right after that happened the heavy got backstabbed by a spy. I had no idea the other team had one (usually its the casters job to inform the viewer of such offclassing shenanigans).

And like idk at the beginning of the cast you were just watching a guy that wasn't even in the mid fight. On the 2nd mid fight you watched a scout go into shithouse and do nothing but shoot off a scout trying to rush it.You missed the actual fight going on in mid and had nothing to really cast that mid fight.

If you're looking to watch someone at the beginning the demo or scouts are usually a good idea since they are the first ones to mid, but the 2nd mid was a bad example. It also seems like you miss out on a lot of fights that are going on on 2nd/last.

Don't use the thirdperson cam when casting its really annoying use either first person or free cam. Free cam is great for the mid fight since you can see what everyone is doing and all the action so you can commentate on stuff.

And last shouldn't cast pugs its a bad idea since teams aren't nearly as organized as how scrims/matches go. Should ask a friend for stvs from there scrims/matches and cast those. I can actually give you some stvs to help you out?

Edit: Should also download bluee's mod to see people through walls if you aren't already using it http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/7848-advspec . It's literally the best thing in the world to have for both the caster and the viewer.

#9 Moving on to ESEA - Need some help in Q/A Help

Well the highest legit level of ugc 6s (non-legit meaning invites getting into ugc just for fun) is pretty much low-mid open. Shouldn't play ugc for longer then one season, then you'd move onto esea.

That's usually how a lot of teams do it. That's how I was gonna get esea experience until my team broke up after its ugc season.

We all know DM is about one shooting people with the direct hit and sniper from across the map.

That is how you get better at this game

#3 IGL? in TF2 General Discussion

The esea season is starting pretty soon so most people might not get into it. There's already cevo, ugc and etf2l so idk how IGL might turn out with all these other leagues.

Still gotta get hype about more leagues for tf2 tho.

#38 On PUGs and IRC in TF2 General Discussion
synchroAt this point, in-game voice chat makes more sense. It's really not that bad for newer players to use.

Mumble has overlay, I love overlay especially in pugs since I could tell who is talking. Going into a pug for the first time I obviously don't know everyones voice, so that helps. It also helps if you're trying out for teams and you want to know if either your med is making a call or your whoever.

Mumble/teamspeak/vent are all used because they have better voice quality and have more options compared to the in-game voice chat. At least, I think that way.
